Painting Beginner & Beyond - Session 2

Whether you are a beginner or an accomplished painter, this is the painting class for you! For those of you who don't know Kathy, she's a gifted artist, but equally important to her students, she's a patient, empowering instructor. You will learn a lot from her calm, skilled approach! Oil painters bring oil paints, no-odor turpentine and Liquin gel medium. Acrylic painters bring acrylic paints, acrylic gel medium. Everyone bring brushes, pallet knife and a canvas, board or whatever surface you wish to paint on. Bring images if you want them for reference. Register early, class size is limited to ten students.

Encaustic Painting Seminar
1 Saturday June 29 9am - 2 pm
Encaustic is an ancient method, which combines oil paints, varnish and beeswax to create a textural painting of remarkable color. The paint/wax mixture is applied with a palette knife, then heated until it melts and flows. This class is for beginner and intermediate painters. Bring oil paints if you have them and a lunch.

Stained Glass Seminar
1 Sunday May 19 9am-Noon
This hands-on class introduces students to copper-foil method (Tiffany style) stained glass craft by completing a small project. You will design a small sun-catcher, select and cut the glass, grind each piece, foil them and then solder the glass pieces together. All supplies provided.

Hidden Treasure Book
2 Sundays June 2 - 9 1pm - 5pm
Students will cut apart a book and redesign it into a hidden treasure book. The book will be recovered in book cloth and the hidden recess inside will be covered in decorative papers and other decorative elements. Please bring a bone folder.

Wheat Paste Decorative Paper
1 Sunday May 26 1pm-5pm
Learn to create your own decorative paper using wheat flour, pigment, stamps, and tools. Students should bring 10-15 sheets of heavy (140#) large (16x20+) paper. Materials fee covers wheat paste, paints & dyes, stamps and ink setters.

Ceramics
6 Wednesdays May 8 - June 12 6pm - 8:30pm
Designed for beginning ceramics students, this class is structured like a workshop so that intermediate students can work independently with the guidance of a skilled instructor close at hand. You'll be introduced to clay, while learning many of the methods used for building, surface decoration, glazing, and finishing hand-built pottery or sculpture.
