Audiophile Indie Music Series and New Dance Party Added to Roster of Brooklyn Museum Thursday Night Events

Teengirl Fantasy The popular Audiophile series of monthly indie music concerts, featuring some of the borough's most exciting emerging talent, as well as a new Dance Party, have been added to the 2013 Brooklyn Museum Thursday night schedule of events. The music programs will continue through September.

Each Audiophile concert will feature two bands performing outdoors in the Steinberg Family Sculpture Garden, when weather permits. Tickets to the concerts are free with Museum admission (a suggested donation of $12) and are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Museum Visitor Center beginning at 11 a.m. the day of the event.

The newly renovated Museum Café will be open throughout the evening and a cash bar will also be available. Additional information about the Audiophile concerts, the new Dance Party, and the complete Thursday night lineup can be found at www.brooklynmuseum.org/calendar. The Museum remains open until 10 p.m. every Thursday with exciting programs that include thought provoking interviews, performance, film, and gallery tours.

The Audiophile and Dance Party schedule is as follows:

Thursday, May 16, 7 p.m.
Audiophile
This performance features nine-piece electro-soul, funk, and disco band Midnight Magic and genre-bending synth pop dance duo Teengirl Fantasy, presented in partnership with Viva Radio. Nail artists Jessica Washick, Eda Levenson, and Ami Vega will also be on hand, creating nail designs inspired by art from the Museum's collection. Nail polish provided by American Apparel. Nail art application ranges from $25 to $50. Cash only. First-come, first-served.

Thursday, June 20, 7-10 p.m.
Dance Party
The Brooklyn Museum will inaugurate an all new Dance Party featuring Brooklyn's own DJ collective I Love Vinyl celebrating the sixty-fifth anniversary of the LP with a mix of disco, house, soul, hip-hop, Afrobeat, and more, strictly on vinyl. Featuring the DJs Ge-Ology, Amir (Kon & Amir), The Twilite Tone (Common), OP!, Jon Oliver (East Village Radio), and Scribe. The evening will also include a record fair with offerings from local stores and vendors.

Thursday, July 25, 7 p.m.
Audiophile
The '90s-influenced, hypnotic psych sound of the Heliotropes is followed by the punk-infused, garage-rock riffs of the all-female group from Japan, The Suzan, in an evening that celebrates women who rock.

Thursday, August 15, 7 p.m.
Dance Party
DJ and producer Rizzla mixes dancehall, reggaeton, vogue swing, and Caribbean beats. Xenia Rubinos uses her powerful voice to create beats and melodies from an eclectic mix of influences like syncopated Caribbean rhythms and minimalist indie rock.
