Sculpture Garden Another gorgeous day inspires us to explore the works outside at the Pizzuti Collection. Above is Tonico Lemos Auad's Figa, a brick hand gesture, playing on traditions. The Brazilian artist's hometown of Belem has an annual Catholic procession where people wear a brick on their heads as a gesture of appreciation of shelter and safety. The gesture refers to a symbol of good luck as seen in pendants and charms. Both are ingrained superstitious traditions, presented on a grand scale, in a wholly contemporary point of view. 
Cristian Andersen (b.1974) Bird 2011 Bronze 62 x 53 x 46 inches
Cristian Andersen's large work is a sculpted bird perched on odd leftover materials piled on top of a pallet, cast in bronze. This unconventional piece started out as a tiny model, which caught the attention of Ron Pizzuti during a visit to the artist's Berlin studio in 2011. Many months later, after being shipped across the Atlantic, it was finally positioned out front of the Pizzuti Collection.
