Art Walk is a free self-guided event every 2nd Thursday of every month. Most galleries are open from 6-10 pm. The Downtown Art Walk has become synonymous with the new Downtown Los Angeles. The City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation’s (LADOT) DASH and Commuter Express bus services are also important contributors to what is Downtown Los Angeles today. These two icons of Downtown LA have partnered to accelerate the growing connection between the arts community and public transit. On Thursday May 9, LADOT will be sponsoring the Art Walk and unveiling the limited edition TAP smart cards, making them available to the gallery-goers. The LADOT branded TAP card is available in four limited edition designs. There is no charge for the card when you add as little as $5 of stored value (cash) to the card during the Art Walk. The new cards will be available in the Art Walk Lounge at 634 South Spring Street from 6-10pm on May 9th.

The Downtown L. A . Art Walk is pleased to present our Artisan/Vendor village which will be operating every month on the night of Art Walk! We are excited to let you know that the Art Mart, Downtown Art Walk’s official vendor lot, will include live artists of all disciplines. Art Walk will be making space available for working artists to showcase their art by painting, sculpting, fashion, and many more! Join us on May 9th for the exciting launch of our official Art Mart. Highlights May Art Walk
The passing of time is at the core of Rick Mendoza’s latest collection of work. The gentle nostalgia that fuels the images culled from many years of personal shooting are rendered in one of the oldest and simplest of photographic processes; the cyanotype. The subject matter speaks of life cycles and change that comes regardless. "Secret Blues" is a window into Mendoza’s love of process and contemplative observation. The dynamic duo at CANLOVE, DJ Neff and Paul Ramirez have revolutionized the way we imagine graffiti art, and will be at the Art Walk Lounge for the May Art Walk on May 9th.
Before they came along, the spray can was the awkward middle child neglected and forgotten on the streets while their byproduct, the graffiti art, soaked in all the glory and admiration from onlookers. CANLOVE artists and innovators are committed to transforming abandoned and discarded spray paint cans into works of art.
