Museum of Nebraska Art Announces
The Museum of Nebraska Art proudly presents, Momentum: Art in Motion On view May 17, 2013 - July 17, 2013 Momentum: Art In Motion is an exhibition dedicated solely to art that displays motion in several different ways. This show features three types of movement: Dynamic, Subjective, and Linear. Dynamic Movement clearly displays motion through the actual subject matter of the piece, almost like a snapshot of a subject in motion. Subjective Movement is all about the method and how the artist used the materials to create the piece. Things such as the brush strokes and medium convey an organic and more fluid kind of movement that can be seen in nature. Lastly, Linear Movement is about the element of line throughout the work. The arrangement of the lines evokes a sense of movement or directionality that displays a different point of view in each piece. Mediums featured in this mixed-media show include: oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings, monotype prints, photographs, and sculpture, all displaying movement in many different styles and forms of art. Organized by: Itzayana Alverado, Trey Maynard, Jack Szymanski, Kearney High School students enrolled in the Junior Curator Class. This accredited class teaches these students about the many steps involved in the process of creating an exhibition, while still making the admiration and knowledge of art the center focus of the course.
