Vincent was kind enough to share the following about the painting:
I first found Aureta Thomollari when I saw her blog on the internet (aureta.typepad.com).
I remember thinking "This is someone who is incredibly passionate about clothing. This is what she lives for." I felt Aureta would be an amazing subject, so I asked her about working together. She liked the idea and we met when she came to Fashion Week in New York City. My concept for working with Aureta was to capture something authentic about her experience at this event. Seeing her hotel suite filled with designer clothing and cosmetics, I knew this was a setting that fit my idea. I asked her to do things that were about her normal daily routine. Aureta relaxing on the bed while blogging was perfect. It expressed so well the things I knew and felt about her. The composition of what I saw was also very appealing to me. I look at my scene as if it's an abstract painting, just a composition of shapes and colors. If it works as that, then I know it has the right foundation to be a successful painting.
Clothing and fashion is one of my interests for my work. I've always marveled at the scope and range of the fashion industry. For me, it's a truly classic subject, right along side architecture and the tradition of painting women.
This piece is part of a series of paintings I've been doing about life in New York City. My focus with this work is to capture the intense reality that I feel there. The city has a bigger than life energy that you can't help but feel.

Alexandra Pacula & Gary Ruddell
through Saturday, May 25th
Don't miss these last days of our two person show, featuring Alexandra Pacula and Gary Ruddell. For more information contact andrew@galleryhenoch.com.
Pacula's pictures of city nights investigate a world of visual intoxication. "I am fascinated by the ambiance of the city at night and its seductive qualities. The breathtaking turbulence of speeding vehicles and hasty pedestrians evoke feelings of wonder and disorientation." To do this Pacula captures the rhythm of the city through its electric pulse: its lights in motion. (above right: SODDEN ILLUMINATION, Oil on Canvas, 42" x 30") Gary Ruddell's imagery captures a world seemingly caught in a temporal flux, where figures act out miraculous feats of levitation and balance. We do not know how or why these feats are possible but we stand in silent observation of the phenomenon. The turbulent nature of the subject matter exposes the viewer to the artist's metaphysical search for "being and identity." For this, Ruddell draws on his observations of his own children. As they grow from adolescence to adulthood, they have to navigate the unknown paths that will evolve their individual character.
