The talk will explore Mathew Weir’s residency with the Nunnery Gallery and his contribution to the exhibition Made in Bow. He will discuss the themes his work explores with Sonia Solicari, Principle Curator of Guildhall Art Gallery and London's Roman Amphitheatre. Prior to her role as Principle Curator of Guildhall Art Gallery, Sonia held the post of Curator, Ceramics at the V&A. Working across the fine and decorative arts, Sonia has engaged with Mathew’s re-imagining of the still life - his creation of a hyper-real world that plays with the fragility of the ceramic medium, as well as the sensitive and political subjects portrayed through the ornamental figurine.
