Artist Christopher Colville ignites small portions of gunpowder on the surface of light-sensitive silver gelatin photographic paper. The light and energy from resulting explosion abrades and burns the paper while concurrently exposing it. Colville has created powerful compositions using varieties of this technique, casting a wide range of hues on a black and white paper. Each of these pieces are unique, they cannot be replicated.
