june at vetri glass: sets
opening reception: first thursday, june 6, 5 - 8 pm
Vetri is pleased to present Sets, an exhibition of functional glassware from sixteen artists, each Northwest-based or with a connection to the Pacific Northwest. Sets focuses on the beauty and character of utilitarian objects and celebrates the ways an artist can present a unique voice through the universal language of everyday objects.
Intersections of form and function are explored through varying glassmaking traditions and techniques. Participating artists include Rik Allen and Shelly Muzylowski-Allen, Granite Calimpong, Greg Clark, Benjamin Cobb, Michael Hofmann, David Levi, Jay Macdonell, James Mongrain, Kelly O'Dell, Raven Skyriver, Sean O'Neill, Greg Owen, Jennifer Umphress, Jasen Johnsen and Karen Willenbrink-Johnsen.
Some playful, others formal and traditional (and a few even meditative), the suites of works assembled in Sets brings attention to the beauty of craft in the glassware we use daily.
Sets runs through June 29. Visit vetriglass.com or call 206.667.9608 for more information. Above: Benjamin Cobb, A Shot and a Beer, 2013, blown glass.
