Angola Marks Venice Biennale Debut with a Victory
Angola, exhibiting for the first time at the Venice Biennale, has been awarded the prestigious Golden Lion for the best national pavilion. Curated by Paula Nascimento and Stefano Rabolli Pansera, the exhibition, which was commissioned and supported by the Angolan Ministry of Culture, features a selection of photography, painting and sculpture in a novel setting. Being a newcomer to Venice, Angola has had to rent an exhibition venue for the duration of the exhibition, which runs until November 24. Read more
Celebrating Twenty Five Years of Dancing all over Johannesburg

25 years ago in February 1988 the first Dance Umbrella platform was presented. How much we have danced since then! This year the Dance Forum in partnership with the Arts Alive International Festival offers you the opportunity to once again enjoy new and commissioned works from both local and international choreographers during the Dance Umbrella Festival 2013. The Dance Umbrella this year includes five international companies and fifteen new works from South African choreographers, plus the Stepping Stones programme featuring 30 choreographers. Read more
FOREST IN FOCUS – a film festival fundraiser in celebration of our forests
Greenpop will be hosting FOREST IN FOCUS in Cape Town in June 2013. This integrative media event will screen a selection of winning short films from the United Nations Forum on Forests, Forests for People awards, provide a platform for innovative music and visual artists and encourage exchange through a curation of talks, Q&A’s and speakers. In association with the United Nations Forum on Forests, Forest for People awards, this dynamic program will screen five award-winning documentary shorts and feature a different musical act and guest speaker every evening.
