S.M.A.K. invites you to attend the opening of the following exhibitions on Friday 21.06 at 8 pm:
The Italian artist Massimo Bartolini – who you probably still know from the impressive outdoor library ‘Bookyards’ (2012) he created for TRACK in the vineyard of St. Peter’s Abbey in Ghent – and the American artist Maria Nordman, will be exhibiting their work on the upper floor of S.M.A.K.
The Swiss artist Manuel Burgener will be moving into the KunstNu space and for the new collection exhibition S.M.A.K. will be presenting work by Stanley Brouwn, Dennis Oppenheim, Lois Weinberger, Lawrence Weiner, Heimo Zobernig and others. Finally, we will be displaying the results of 'TRACK in Residence', in association with KUNSTWERKT.
Performances during the opening:
- At his ‘Studio Matters +1’ exhibition Massimo Bartolini will be presenting the performance ‘Otra Fiesta’, by the singer Deirdre Dubois at 10 pm. For 20 minutes she will be singing words by the Argentine poet Roberto Juarroz to the music of free jazz musician Edoardo Marraffa. Bartolini worked together with him on the musical ‘activation’ of his monumental organ sculpture.
- Apart from her ‘Geo-Aesthetics’ exhibition, Maria Nordman will be presenting a performance in relation to her work 'UNTITLED, 1998-Present, the corner of your room' at 8.30 pm. This work of art was exhibited at the “Over The Edges” exhibition in 2000. This work will be on view for 24u/24 hours until Sunday 23.06.
Practical information: During the opening on Friday 21.06, the exhibition rooms will be open to the public from 8 – 11.30 pm. You are invited for a drink in our entrance hall afterwards.
