RESOLUTION 978 HD
AN EXHIBITION BY MODEL COURT

CONTINUES UNTIL 7 JULY

Gasworks presents an exhibition by London-based artists and researchers Model Court, an ongoing collaboration between Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Sidsel Meineche Hansen, Lorenzo Pezzani and Oliver Rees. Resolution 978 HD comprises a newly commissioned film and installation focusing on the recently concluded trial of François Bazaramba, a Rwandan national convicted of genocide by a small district court in the Finnish town of Porvoo.

THURSDAY 20 JUNE, 7pm
 
Join us for a screening of Resolution 978 HD by Model Court, followed by a discussion between the artists and Gasworks' exhibitions curator Robert Leckie. This will be an opportunity to hear first-hand about the development of Model Court's project at Gasworks and to interrogate their interest in how media technologies mediate international justice.

 
 
DʼARUSHA À ARUSHA SCREENING AND DISCUSSION

THURSDAY 27 JUNE, 7pm
 
A rare screening of DʼArusha à Arusha (From Arusha to Arusha, 114 min., France / Canada / Rwanda 2008) followed by a Q&A with film director Christophe Gargot. The film looks at the international tribunal that took place in Arusha, Tanzania from 1995 which tried the major offenders in the Rwandan genocide and civil war.

PRESENTATION: LINDA MULCAHY ON LEGAL ARCHITECTURE AND THE SHIFTS TOWARDS THE VIRTUAL TRIAL

THURSDAY 4 JULY, 7pm

Linda Mulcahy, professor at LSE’s Department of Law, speaks about her research on the history of legal architecture and more recent shifts towards the virtual trial, followed by a Q&A.
 
 
RESIDENCIES OPEN STUDIO WEEKEND
In partnership with Studio Voltaire

FRIDAY 28 JUNE, 6-9pm & SATURDAY 29 JUNE, 12-6pm

Current residency artists Marianna Christofides (Cyprus), Youngmi Chun (South Korea), Alexandra Ferreira and Bettina Wind (Portugal/Germany), Marcius Galan (Brazil) and Shreyas Karle (India) conclude their residencies by opening their studios to the public. There will also be a studio tour, performance, talks and screenings. The Open Studio Weekend is developed in partnership with Studio Voltaire who is hosting an afterparty on the Friday evening from 8pm.

Gasworks welcomes its first curators-in-residence, Miguel A. López (Peru) and Fernanda Nogueira (Brazil).
Both curators are members of Red Conceptualismos del Sur (RCS) and will talk about their recent curatorial projects and research on Tuesday 9 July.

Residency artists Alexandra Ferreira and Bettina Wind present an exhibition at Almanac that attempts to evoke the intangible traces of Brazilian musicians Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso’s stay in London in the 1960s and 1970s. A new performance by the artists will be presented at Gasworks during the Residencies Open Studio Weekend.

New project space Cecilia Brunson Projects presents the first UK solo exhibition by Chilean artist Catalina Bauer. The exhibition includes work as part of her ongoing project Textileria, which explores the issue of collective making, alongside several knitted works produced during her Participation Residency at Gasworks in 2012.
