Capture the Fleeting - Group Exhibition

Time races past us and the present moment is inevitably in the past; simultaneous to cognition. Taking a photograph is a distinctive action by which we continuously attempt to freeze-frame these moments in order to reminisce, recognise and remember. Artists Saschka, Leela Schauble, Ayman Kaake, Campbell LaPun, Dennis Trew, Payal Sehgal, Hayley King, J Forsyth, Trent Everitt, and Sebastian Gollings explore this concept, each with a distinctive approach to the medium of photography. John DiCandia - Fragmented Realities

In John DiCandia's first solo exhibition since 2010, he explores intersubjectivity, and blurs lines between myth and reality through portraiture. Through this exhibition, DiCandia showcases the evolution of a collective subconscious regarding the individual in portraiture. The work embodies a fusing of classical iconography with 21st century street art to explore the relationship between the old world and the new. https://www.facebook.com/events/400555110060074/?notif_t=plan_user_joined

(re)interpreting Portrait - Group Exhibition

New perspectives on a traditionally established category for visually representing the human figure. This exhibition re-interprets the portrait itself, questioning methods of representation and the normalising factors which are inherently involved when considering the self and other. By 're-presenting' the human figure, we're engaging with concepts of how we perceive ourselves and others, as well as the various perceptions of beauty. Tony Pappos, Caelene Glen,Campbell LaPun, Hoda Afshar, Gabriella Moxey, Dennis Trew, Carmel Debreuil, Charlie Chamma, Yuan Wang, Ross Vaughn, Uri Auerbach and Emily Veale are each working with an assortment of medium, to undermine traditionalised assumptions entailed by portrait-based representation. By using portraiture to reconfigure such traditional approaches these artists are redefining the notion of a conceptual self, and hence changing our conditional discernment of normality, beauty and difference.
