Did you know the state grain of Wisconsin is corn? Or, that the European Mantis is Connecticut's state insect? Probably not. But, that's what makes Julian Montague's State of America print series so marvelous. Rather than depicting (in most cases) the most obvious state insignia, the artist has gone for that which is most graphic. The result of the project is 50 distinct prints that celebrate the diversity of our great nation in plain pictures.
