Nudity Today might have been more accurately called Nudity This Minute or Nudity Right This Very Second. It's a breezily made collection, an easily curated survey of a group of young photographers making art that involves images-in varying degrees of graphicness-of the naked human form. The artists featured in Nudity Today grew up amidst the changing moods and outlooks in photography that were engendered by a heady era that witnessed the explosion of the snapshot aesthetic, the birth of digital photography, and the proliferation of online networks and outlets for sharing and exhibiting images. As those things have shaped the means of photography, the continuing relaxation (or the decay, if that's really the way you want to feel about it) of social mores has transformed its ends. So what we have running loose in the world is a veritable horde of emerging photographic artists who don't mind getting nude, being nude, and doing things in the nude; models the same age who are just as-if not more-comfortable being undressed and performing for the camera; and democratically accessible tools of production and distribution. And so, voilą: A perfect storm of youthful boobs, butts, pussies, and dicks in a seemingly never-to-abate gust of photos.
