Tracye Wear on view through June 29 From The Artist Tracye Wear: "Twenty-five years of making functional and sculptural ceramics provided me with a sense of surface and multi-stepped processes that are evident in my encaustic work. I use encaustic because its seductive, lambent quality plays counter to secretive and illusive imagery. Moving from opacity to translucency, the medium conceals revelations." "In this series, I use images of plants and trees growing outside my studio. Flora dominates the panels, hiding stories and poems and exploring what lies below the surface, what is behind walls, what is out of site hidden in our lives and minds and in our immediate surroundings. You can see a word or phrase here and there, but never the complete story." See more of Tracye's work here |
