Join us in celebrating the young peopleâs achievements in creating the exhibition Delicious Monsters: Plants of the Imagination. On Saturday 29th June there will be a free Prize Giving Celebration and family event for all to attend. There will be free art workshops running throughout the day and Wandsworth Sainsbury will make the picnic complete with free food and refreshment. | | |
11am: Award Ceremony starts where five children from each school will be awarded a prize from The Worshipful The Mayor of Wandsworth, Cllr Mrs Angela Graham, and it will be revealed which school has be selected to receive an overall prize for the most impressive contribution.
11.45am - 3.45pm: Art Workshops with artist Kathy Schicker. Kathy will be running a free art workshop were you can make paper and fabric flowers. Out on the terrace, Li Williams can transform you into a Delicious Monster with facepainting. There will also be a range of other plant related art workshops. | |
Delicious Monsters: Plants of the Imagination brings together the work of four local primary schools. Students from St Georgeâs, Christ Church C.E, Falconbrook and Westbridge each worked with an artist to create their own unique environment inspired by Battersea Park. Each school were given an entire floor to exhibit their work and the gallery has been transformed into a colourful haven full of imagination and adventure.
The exhibition is on from Wednesday 26th June - Sunday 30th June, 11am - 5pm. Free entry. | | |
This exhibition is the result of a partnership between local organisations, including Friends of Battersea Park, The Thomasâs School Foundation, Royal College of Art, Pump House Gallery, the artists Li Williams, Kathy Schicker, Tanya Kaprielian, Karen Mears and writer Tom Ogier, and the schools themselves.
Financial and in-kind support for this project has been generously donated by the Co-op Community Fund, Wandsworth Council, Thrive, Wandsworth Sainsbury's, Battersea Flower Station and Craven Landscapes.
The children's work has been judged by Beth Schnider, Head of Learning at the Royal Academy of Arts and Narinda Sagoo, Partner and Head of the Design and Communications team at Fosters and Partners.
