We are so pleased to announce a $150,000 grant from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts in support of our exhibitions and programs between summer 2013 and spring 2015. As we work to complete the Capital Campaign for the renovation of our facilityâs main public spaces, this grant provides strong financial support of our programmatic expenses. This grant will empower upcoming solo exhibitions with Fallen Fruit, Steven L. Anderson, and Simone Leigh; a robust series of group exhibitions pairing local and national artists; and a regional conference that will bring together arts presenters from nine Southeast states.
In December 2008, we received a similar Warhol Foundation grant of $120,000 for support of two years of exhibitions and programs, including solo exhibitions by artists including Tamy Ben-Tor, Mel Chin, Corin Hewitt, Jennie C. Jones, Laura Poitras, Shana Robbins, and Harry Shearer; the group show Substitute Teacher; and talks by curators, art historians, and artists, including Jackie Battenfield, Dan Cameron, Luis Camnitzer, Ronald Feldman, Richard Flood, David Humphrey, Courtney J. Martin, Mira Schor and Nato Thompson.
Assessing the importance of the grant, ACAC Artistic Director Stuart Horodner said, âBeing recognized by The Andy Warhol Foundation is always a tremendous honor. It obviously helps us fiscally, but of equal significance is the Foundationâs endorsement of our work and peer status with the acclaimed institutions around the United States that were also awarded grants, including Creative Time, MCA Chicago, The Menil Collection, Walker Art Center, White Columns, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, among others.â
Be the first to preview our revitalized space! Weâll have coffee, juice, and light bites.Admission is free.In order to attend, you must be a member of ACAC: Join now or join onsite that morning!
