Partake: Dinners at the Museum by Café Flo
Wednesday, July 24 6:30pm Gather for an evening of food and art inspired by Miss Florence and the Lyme artists. Once a month throughout the summer, against the backdrop of the sun setting over the Lieutenant River, chef and owner of Gourmet Galley Anna Lathrop will prepare a themed dinner complete with wine pairings. After a welcoming aperitif, guests will experience a brief insider's presentation on a work of art before enjoying dinner. Seating is limited. Saturday, July 20 2pm $7 (members $5) Register Online Featured artists in the Animal/Vegetable/Mineral exhibition, Richard Selesnick and Nicholas Kahn have been collaborating as Kahn/Selesnick since 1988 on a series of complex narrative photo-novellas and sculptural installations. Their illustrated talk places the art on view into the broader context of their other work.

Tour the Met's renovated European Painting Galleries. Their representations of Rembrandt, Rubens, Vermeer, Poussin, Velázquez, Goya, and David are the strongest in the Western Hemisphere. After lunch (on your on) gather for tour of The Civil War and American Art. This major loan exhibition considers how artists responded to the Civil War and its aftermath. Landscapes by Frederic E. Church and Sanford R. Gifford and paintings of life on the battlefront and the home front by Winslow Homer and Eastman Johnson.

Send your students "over the rainbow" this fall (October 4th to November 3) during the Museum's Wee Faerie Village in the Land of Oz. The event features two dozen miniature faerie settings, based on L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz installed in various nooks and crannies on the Museum grounds.
