Artists Describing Their Art:
Margaret Thompson -
Russell Saunders - My influences are diverse. I love all forms of expressionism through art. I have learned that life is a constant changing force and I try to illustrate that through my art. ItaEURtms one of the reasons that abstract is my favorite art form. I have always been fascinated by the ephemeral nature of the moment. Life itself is a wonderful piece of abstract art, its beauty and message are different for each viewer. Dependent on what lens is chosen, it can change each time it is viewed. That is the beauty of life, art, and creativity. Constant flow and energy creating a different journey for every participant. In abstract art and life, you can look for hidden meaning and deep thought-provoking messages, or simply bask in the color and movement. The choice is always there for the viewer to make. I absolutely love that about art When I paint, as clichA(c) as it sounds, I let the piece decide what it will become. At times I may have a definite vision of what I want to paint but I am never afraid to change course if the piece is disagreeable. I love it when I hear people discussing ...
Mimi Revencu - The Mirabilism Manifesto Art these days most often reflects alienation, desperation, violence, loneliness, old age and death. But art is a dynamic field, always looking to rediscover and reinvent itself. It is time to express something new in art, something related to our deep essence, universal and optimistic, separated from the daily madness. It is time for the artist to call for a change of attitude and spirit, bringing to life the present and not only reflecting the world around. I believe that art in general is meant to be perceived as inside vibration. And Mirabilis is pure inner vibration at its best. The Mirabilis artist depicts impressions and mental images that do not pass through the filter of a mental process. They are rather the product of his instincts. The images are featuring bright colours, lots of green hues and pink, no grays tones and almost no use of black paint. Colours are applied side-by-side with as little mixing as possible, creating a simplified, vibrant surface. Objects and beings are mostly flat but they are disposed in different layers and transparency of thin paint films is used in order to obtain deepness of space. There are surfaces...
Annemarie Rackham - I started drawing and painting about ten years ago. I have always been able to be creative and imaginative. Drawing and painting my own individual thoughts and designs is a creative outlet for me. My artwork is often my interpretation of emotion, thoughts and the world around me. Painting is a positive way of conveying thought and form the way I see and feel them. I hope people like my art and buy it. I am getting ready to add new works. I have been in several local art shows. Some of my pieces have been bought. I will be creating more of them. To show and sell. I think art in all its forms make the world a better place on many levels. I am a South Florida native and I am 51. AnneMarie Rackham...
Suzanne Caron - A blank surface is quickly covered with fluid colour using a large brush or sponge. Gestural strokes in the still-wet paint suggest movement and form, and from there the painting evolves almost with a will of its own, an intuitive process, at least up to a certain point. As the work progresses, ideas form rapidly and are sometimes sketched on paper before applying more paint. I dont always know where to begin or even end, but thats what excites me about painting....the unknown ...
Michael Ashcraft - I am a graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute. My work reflects the symbolic metaphors in the world around me. I spend a lot of time finding the right physical objects or settings to build the statements I wish to express. I may spend months or even years with an idea before I ever touch a canvas or piece of paper. Once I begin I let the painting dictate its own style. Only the painting can tell me when it is finished. I will usually set them aside for a long time before I come back and decide if they are truly finished or need more work. I hope you enjoy them....
George Grant - In my works I try to mold invisible ideas into visible forms. Merging of the invisible and visible in surreal themes and objects, or in coded geometrical shapes in my art is the way I establish the purpose of breaking through the conventional statuses of material life, into the dream world of human subconscious, where the infinite universes are hiding. So the objects and beings in my works are often appearing as symbols pointing to that which can hardly be talked about in words, allowing the viewer to get the hunch on deeper non-verbal level. Apart of surrealism, abstraction and abstract expressionism, my second fav is a realistic classic painting, where I endeavor to follow the principles and techniques of Renaissance artists. ...

Joe Xuereb - My work is inspired by the remains of the Neolithic era of Maltese pre-history. Malta's Neolithic past is among its most precious heritages. I focus mainly on the female figure with its obvious manifestation of fertility and on emotions and relationships emerging from this archetype. I have based my philosophy of art on this figure because it highlights the maternal aspect of our Maltese civilization where the figure of the female principle has been a recurrent leitmotif, not least in the religious sphere. While my sculpture is rooted in the fertile soil of my country's prehistory, it tries to transcend this basic heritage by treating universal themes such as love, protection, unity and fecundity arising naturally from its premises. My subconscious plays a central role in my artistic philosophy. I have been influenced by certain basic themes which recur in my thoughts even my dreams and which inspire my oeuvre. ...
Joy Livingston - The inclination to make art came to me at an early age growing up in Omaha, Nebraska; and I went on to earn a B.S. in Art Education, and a M.F.A. in Painting. I was determined to teach art at any level, and ended up with Middle School in Inverness, Florida. Albert Pinkham Ryder's paintings are a great inspiration to me, along with other Romanticists; Ralph Albert Blakelock, J.M.W. Turner, Albert Bierstadt, and William Blake. Automatism and Expressionism will continue to play a role in my work. ...
Lynda Stevens - I see my creative path as being one with no absolute destination aEUR" the process of creation is as important to me as the result. In my work I often like to explore the tensions between chaos and form aEUR" and how chaos can break up stagnant forms into something more dynamic, or how form can bring beauty out of what was inchoate. Thus, sources of inspiration might include city encroaching on country and vice-versa, the dynamism of volcanoes, oceanic tides and so on. However, as the creative process for me mainly comes about via a process of psychic automatism, so that it is guided by an ebb and flow of subconscious impressions, both inner and outer landscapes tend to be superimposed upon each other in any given composition. My pieces may be layered, worked and reworked again, so that an inner alchemical process runs through as a theme in all my works. This means that each piece is further altered and refined into something very different from what it might have been in the first place. I have sometimes used materials that might otherwise be perceived as rubbish aEUR" glass crystals from broken carsbuildings, gypsum, melted polystyrene and so on. More ...
