  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Claudia Luethi Alias Abdelghafar - Personal Statement from Claudia Luethi alias Abdelghafar I love to paint oil colours because they are smooth and I can paint in several coatings. So there is a threedimensional effect in my paintings. I love colours to express the positive attitude to my live. I believe that there is all the time a door open when I believe it. There is no sence to see the negative things in live because all the peoble around me has also negative things in there live. In 2006 I began to paint oilcolour on velvet. I like to play with the structure from the velvet. There is a special effect on the painting with velvet. There were peoble telling me to paint abstract things than I would have the better chance to sell it. But I love to paint animals, to bring there soul and character on the canvas or velvet, to give them live that when you pass the painting you are just thinking: ups, this animal has it moved? Also the landscapes and citiescapes have to live, I want really not to copy only fotos but that the peoble can smell the woods or the salt water of the sea, hear ...

Claudia Luethi Alias Abdelghafar - Stephen Robinson - My name is Steve Robinson and have been a photographer in one way or another since college. During that lifetime, I have traveled the world with my camera, photographing and sharing with people who will never have the good fortune to see the wonderful places I have had the good fortune to see. Along the way, my photographers eye changed. My images quieted, and I began to see the world through a very different lens. I no longer sought out the ordinary places the tourists seemed to go, and I began to find the quiet corners of the world where ordinary people lived out their lives. My images are not so much about the people themselves, but more about the places they call home, or about the places near and dear to the heart. In the past, I have visited places like the Galapagos, the deserts of the American Southwest, the wilds of Bolivia, Ecuador, Ireland, Scotland, the timeless tracts of Turkey, and the quiet corners of Italy. I have done all this, and still more. Each of my images is its own story, a poem of color and shape, an expression of soul, a blending of place, seeing, and ...

Monica Puryear - My paintings and drawings portray personal stories, dreams and fantasies of my deep connection with nature. I frequently use animals and plants that intersect in some way to create a feeling of intimacy and mystery. I use vivid colors and rich details of my subjects in the hope of inticing the viewer into my world to discover and relish the beauty they possess. It is my intention to provide the viewer with a respite from the violent imagery that is so prevalent in our daily lives, so one may enter into a richly colored world in a moment of intense beauty....

Dennis Mccallum - For a number of years I was the UK Government protected species rehabilitator to the wild of injured birds of prey. In this time I was able to observe and handle wild birds and animals. They were my inspiration and provided the subject matter for my paintings. Having been a surveyor with the UK Ordnance Survey which makes the British maps, I was trained to represent images with accuracy and detail and this I do in my paintings from studying the birds at close quarters. I also have the freedom to explore any subject that interests me. My work has been challenging, but always enjoyable and that is my reason for painting...

Dennis Mccallum - John Tooma - This site is only a guide to my artworks, you will appreciate them alot more when they are seen in real life. These prices are set in US currency, hope you could be aware of this. As a Painter and Graphic DesignerIllustrator, art is huge part of my life. Its a great feeling to have the ability to draw and paint what my eye can see. As an observer, I love to sketch in my A5 pads and photograph most subject matter transferring the visual information onto paper, canvas, clay or the computer. I use digital photographic equipment only as a support for my work. I draw and paint virtually everything but my passion lies with the human body. I use dry and wet medium such as graphite pencil, chalk pastel, charcoal, ink, gouache and oil paints. I enjoy experimenting with my subject. I also use the apple computer for retouching and airbrushing technique. You can order Prints from any of these Paintings or Drawings and this would be printed on either Paper or Canvas depending on your preference. It is an absolute pleasure to share my passion with you and to speak about it through art. I enjoy sketching ...

Chad A. Carino - A quality which defines the life of any urban artist is the visible entropy surrounding us in the form of decay and despoilation of the desolation defining post-industrial urban America. Simply put, we live in darkness. This quality bends and controls me, defining my work, decaying into darkness and chaos. A solid idea will find itself dissolving into a series of dark scribbles, and a simple concept will belie its ultimate complexity. These images find themselves hovering between unconsiousness and depression; ultimately, cold, dark, and dead, like any planet or person....

Matrella Rita - Hunting Hounds, Hunting Scenes, Setter, Pointer, Poodles, Royal Germans and All Wildlife She paints with oils, plaster and blood. It prefers the dark light Carbon fiber technique, which best expresses the mystery and the charm of life, especially when it comes to the world of hunting, petting, setter and pointer ... In charcoal represents animals as elements of the wonderful mosaic of nature, with particular preference for the hunters. Participate in several collective exhibitions and more initiatives organized by the various bodies for culture and art....

Sallyann Mickel - SallyAnn Mickel has an artistic style which expresses her deep love of nature and animals and the joy she experiences while creating her artwork. After years of rendering nature subjects in an exact, realistic manner, Mickel has realized her own emotional response to the natural world. Her portraits and landscapes are done in an impressionistic style using a limited palette, thick, rich oil paint or pastels, and a simplified vision. Currently, Mickel is exploring the combined mediums of collage and pastel. A concern for the environment and wildlife are underlying theme's in Mickel's artwork; artwork that is continually evolving. SallyAnn received her basic art training from Towson State College in Baltimore, Maryland and various courses and workshops offered in the Maryland area. Her inspiration comes from nature and animals. Her animalscapes (as she calls her portraits) are done realistically and in an Impressionistic style with soft pastels on quality Mi-Tientes pastel paper. Her animal portraits have been juried in and have won awards in local and national art shows, including 'The Art Show At The Dog Show' in Wichita, KS and 'The Cat Show' in Rockville, MD. She has portraits in art collections from Baltimore, Maryland to ...

Zoraida Haibi Figuera - Zoraida Haibi Artist Statement My work is a diary or narrative of the relationships that I have with family and people closest to me. There are different components of each individual represented in the works. Use of collage and mix media, allows me to be able to put fragments of each personi?1/2s character in my artwork. Each painting is cultivated through methods of collecting memoirs and stitching them together creating a quilt of memories. Through use of vibrant colors, expressive brushstorkes, cuts in the canvases, sewing surfaces and collage, I am able to convey a medley of these visions. The awkwardness of some of my canvases reflects the indifference for traditional values that is characteristic in the Latin culture and break from the customary size and shape of the canvas. ...

Katalin Luczay - Painting to me is an expression, interpretation, and appreciation of the world around me. In my opinion any art should inspire and elevate the human spirit. These types of art works are immortal, such as the works of the old masters. In my paintings I strive to achieve these ideals. I would describe my works as related as representational realism. In my seascapes I bring many different colors together to illustrate the movement of water. In my landscapes and still life works I like to emphasize the play of light as it hits a focal point. I like to paint in oil because I can achieve this sense of light and motion by glazing over layers, as well as in oil I can achieve a richness that I find limiting in other mediums. Please see my website at

Danny S Christian - Natural light is the most important element in my paintings, whether it comes as early morning light seen through a misty veil, noonday bright sunlight or a late afternoon glows. The beauty of this light may evokes one's feeling toward an otherworldly sense, taking one's spirit and mind toward a deep admiration on this wonderful created nature and adoration toward the Creator of it. After years of searching, I chose watercolor as a medium because it can serve best in expressing what I feel and see in the Nature on a piece of plain paper. Letting its white luminosity shines through layers of transparent color. Giving me lots of freedom to execute the work while 'playing' with the paint, enjoying every stroke and splash I made. I believe that the true measure of success for myself is when my paintings can draw people's heart nearer toward The One who creates all beautiful things we can enjoy in this life. ...

Christine Montague - Christine Montague is a professional award winning visual artist known for her portraiture commissions, figurative landscape art, and polar bear oil paintings. Why polar bears The character and spirit of the bears, their high intelligence think great ape, their solitary lifestyle, excellent mothering skills, their place in our world, and the very landscape they wander in, embodies all that I have tried to represent in my other artworks - spirit, character, intelligence, personality, solitude without loneliness, discovery, mindfulness, joy, beauty, escape. Travels to the Canadian arctic Iqaluit Cape Dorset in Nunavut and subarctic Churchill,Manitoba, Canada - polar bear capital of the world and my stay at the Churchill Northern Studies Centre Churchill, Manitoba, Canada, furthered my education and wonder for these magnificent bears and the magical landscape and skyscape - the northern lights. Polar bears are definitely a canary in the coal mine symbol of climate change and my polar bear paintings often symbolize this potential for great loss as their numbers reduce. The effect vanishing ice has on the survival of the polar bear resulted in my series such as the Sink Swim Series. But other works simply pay tribute to this wonder animal in its magical, mysterious environment of frozen ...

Iwona Jankowski - My first works of art I have created as a child depicted horses. Drawing them, I thought I could feel every muscle of the horse I drew. It was far from perfect but the feeling remains. Even today, after many years, my favorite subject is Horses. For me the horse, beside the beautiful gracious body, is a symbol of a free soul, loyalty and trust. Especially Ii?1/2m fascinated by their eyes. An eye, as old people say, is a window to a soul. When you look in their trustful eyes, you can see they want to connect with us and are always as a vivid shadow that needs to be close, to follow and to please, and blindly doni?1/2t expect anything in return i?1/2 just hopes for love and simple friendship for life. Over the past ten years my work has transformed from a semi-realistic, simplified close-ups of my subjects, into a floating, colorful i?1/2Mottledi?1/2 compositions. My Mottled Horses - Equine art developed since 2003-4 in my new i?1/2Mottledi?1/2 style that merges abstract and expressionism with a touch of realism. The subject is created on a colorful abstract background to express feelings, often shown as a close-...

John Cielukowski - I focus on painting what interests and fascinates me. I also try to promote awareness of animal welfare issues through my paintings. I donate my work to local and national animal welfare and environmental organizations for their fundraising efforts. I received my BA in Fine Arts from Montclair University in New Jersey. I also studied at the School of Visual Arts SVA and The Art Students League in New York City. I am a founding member and board member of the Studios of Cocoa Beach, Florida. I am also an active member of the Central Brevard Art Association, located in Rockledge, Florida. ...
