  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Michael Pickett - I donaEURtmt know how IaEURtmm able to do all of this, but somewhere inside me I know that I stand out from the rest, IaEURtmm unique and have some powers that are beyond comprehension. I stay pretty much to myself and I feel like someone who is not from this planet and that there are differences that I readily perceive. All of this makes me self-conscious and also makes me more critical of myself. I judge and criticize myself a lot which I should not, but I do because I feel alienated at times. IaEURtmm vary humble and definitely not better than anyone else. I have so much to achieve, and thataEURtms why I take my own time to do so, there are times when I get irritated and agitated because of keeping a lot of expectations for myself, and when IaEURtmm not able to execute it, I feel low. However, I have to make sure that all these expectations are achievable, not impractical and unfeasible. As a result, I trust my intuition more which allows me to communicate with others. Self-expression and originality are also associated with me. There is a ...

James Morin - I am best known for my work in political cartooning which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1996 and 2017. However, I started painting when I was young, studied at Syracuse University under Jerome Witkin, and never stopped. While cartooning provided an artistic outlet for the daily foibles of politicians and such, painting offers me a means to explore topics more broadly natures supremacy through the majestic, haunting Banyan tree, cultural degradation through the zombie-like TV watcher, and spiritual desolation symbolized by the foreboding highway entrance. My paintings are my reaction to societal progression, at times a caution sign, or at least bemused reflection....

Sergey Lesnikov - Old things fascinate - wood, metal, stones, cobweb of craquelure on old varnish .. the way time worked on them. Perhaps as proof that Time is material, and has value in itself. Once, looking at the massive hundred-year-old board from the old house, I imagined all those works on the wood panels, from icons to painting, which we never saw, that left, disappeared, lost in time. How could they look like Then I came to idea to make such a thing, looking like a found artifact, with fragments of old painting on ancient piece of wood. So I have created it, and continue working now.. Additional technical education helps to find new and new technological solutions, and now every work is physically unique, because of the uniqueness of the key element - old wood, and because of the peculiarities of the process. Nowadays, when so many people are interested in medieval style, fantasy and pseudo-historical stories- from The Lord of the Rings to the Game of Thrones, such kind of works are interesting, arenaEURtmt they Such as they could be, if they existed in reality and reached our days.. Im always in search- of new approaches, new materials, sometimes ...

Valerie Leri - A strong element throughout my work, is light - both physical and spiritual - through a combination of realism and abstract. My mission is to capture a sense of spontaneity, tranquility, andor movement and energy through the interaction of colors and shapes. I paint with acrylics. Some of my work is interwoven with elements from nature such as bark, sand, stones, shells creating a partiuclar mood and giving the painting three dimensions. I work more by feeling than technique, letting the painting in a sense create iself with myself as a conduit to the visual message, thus the end result is more about flow than form. To a limited extent I strive for effect but most often my efforts are toward lifting the veils of illusion to reveal the truth. There is no right way to interpret my art. All of my work is inspired by the need to create exhilaration, inner joy and peace, both for myself and the view. Ultimately my art is an invitation to dream....

Valerie Leri - Valerie Leri - Durre Waseem - Durre Waseem of Corona, a native of Pakistan, has a Master of Fine Arts degree from Punjab University and taught for 10 years at various colleges in Pakistan. Durre moved to the United States in 2001 and became a full time painter. She paints portraits and plein air in oils, pastels, watercolor, ink, and acrylics and captures the local colour of both the people and the place of wherever she may be. Her bold, colorful brushwork and loose impressionistic style effectively capture the energy and feeling of her subject and establishes a direct line of communication with the viewer. Her inspiration is usually an ordinary object, how its identity is defined by its environment, and how it becomes apart of its surroundings. Durre has participated in many national and international exhibitions both in Pakistan and the U.S. ...

John Douglas - John Douglas is an Australian multi-media artist whose painting exhibitions have received acclaim and caused controversy both in his home country and internationally. He began painting at the age of 8, and studied at the Queensland College of Art until his expulsion in 1984 for being a "disruptive and disturbing influence", after which his career really took off. His photography encompasses a broad spectrum of styles and themes, including publications in Thailand, Denmark, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, China, Qatar, Australia and Japan. John Douglas currently has his short film "Painting Air" in a solo web exhibit for The Istanbul Museum of Contemporary Art. ...

Sal Villano - The inspiration for creating my sculpture grew from a lifetime love of trees. I am in awe of the stately presence and silent majesty they posses. I find the structure of trees to be one of the perfections in nature. With their roots embracing the earth; in winter they show their bones, in spring gentle buds, in summer a canopy of green and in fall a magical kaleidoscope of colors. Beauty, pure beauty. ...

Sal Villano - Pat Heydlauff - I discovered my love for painting in 1993 as I was transitioning out of a stress filled career and exploring my creative side. As a colorist, I painted lively, vibrant mainstream artwork consisting of landscapes, florals and still-lifes. Through painting I noticed my life was becoming balanced, and filled with harmony instead of stress. Painting allowed me to discover my spiritual nature and peace within and lead me to paint in a stream of consciousness flowing with energy. This flow of consciousness energy is visible in my recent "art with a message" canvas work where you can always find hope, peace and joy in the subject matter and every brush stroke. Painting is the physical manifestation of my spiritual being. It is the flow of energy through paint onto a two dimensional canvas projecting three dimensional energy. I endeavor to convey a vital energy through sight with color and design. My inspirational and mainstream artwork can be placed in areas of the home and office to create an environment with balance, harmony and a flow of energy which enriches the viewer. I believe that in our world today with cement cities, sound pollution and isolated environments, it is difficult ...

Eve Thompson - "Painting is my way of expressing the joy of seeing. By organizing the play of contrasts and vivid colors, I can capture the feeling of intense sunlight. This moment of illumination is what I hope to convey to my viewers."...
