  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Nancy Bechtol - Ghassan Rached - I am a geoscientist. I paint, but painting is only a hobby. I paint, whenever I can spare the time, what is relaxing, touches my heart and pleasant to me for enjoyment. I love to use oil and watercolor as media to express beauty. Comments of visitors would be appreciated....

Ghassan Rached - Marina Venediktova - My name is Marina Venediktova. I was born in 1974 in the Russian city of Kazan. My father is a professional artist and designer. It is difficult for me to track the moment in the past when painting first captured my attention, apparently from the first days of my life . I always studied with my father, and then graduated from an art school in the city of Kazan, later in 2007 I moved to live in St. Petersburg and practiced for many years in private workshops with artists of the Art Academy of St. Petersburg. As a second education, there was a graduation from the Academy of Astrology, and a large practice of consulting clients. Since then, more than six years have passed, and it was astrology that gave me that unique accent in my paintings, inspired me to a new stage of my work. Now I do not just look at the world, at people, I see them with my own eyes, I see the uniqueness of each person, each soul, even if it is an inanimate object. But words are too stingy to describe it, so I chose my own language-the language of canvas and paint. I ...

Nikica Cvrljak - Coming from a family of artists, I have painted since my childhood. One part of my work, both painting and photography, is inspired by the region where I live. It is coastal part of my country with its Mediterranean light. I usually paint in oil, pastels, watercolors and I do drawings in pencil. I do both color photography and black and white for which I still use film roles. I dont have a habit of explaining my work as I think that painting and photography are felt in a way that goes beyond language. Doing both painting and photography gives me a satisfaction. I think that every work of art which is honest and inspired can make this world a bit better. ...

Sergey Lesnikov - Old things fascinate - wood, metal, stones, cobweb of craquelure on old varnish .. the way time worked on them. Perhaps as proof that Time is material, and has value in itself. Once, looking at the massive hundred-year-old board from the old house, I imagined all those works on the wood panels, from icons to painting, which we never saw, that left, disappeared, lost in time. How could they look like Then I came to idea to make such a thing, looking like a found artifact, with fragments of old painting on ancient piece of wood. So I have created it, and continue working now.. Additional technical education helps to find new and new technological solutions, and now every work is physically unique, because of the uniqueness of the key element - old wood, and because of the peculiarities of the process. Nowadays, when so many people are interested in medieval style, fantasy and pseudo-historical stories- from The Lord of the Rings to the Game of Thrones, such kind of works are interesting, arenaEURtmt they Such as they could be, if they existed in reality and reached our days.. Im always in search- of new approaches, new materials, sometimes ...

Valerie Leri - A strong element throughout my work, is light - both physical and spiritual - through a combination of realism and abstract. My mission is to capture a sense of spontaneity, tranquility, andor movement and energy through the interaction of colors and shapes. I paint with acrylics. Some of my work is interwoven with elements from nature such as bark, sand, stones, shells creating a partiuclar mood and giving the painting three dimensions. I work more by feeling than technique, letting the painting in a sense create iself with myself as a conduit to the visual message, thus the end result is more about flow than form. To a limited extent I strive for effect but most often my efforts are toward lifting the veils of illusion to reveal the truth. There is no right way to interpret my art. All of my work is inspired by the need to create exhilaration, inner joy and peace, both for myself and the view. Ultimately my art is an invitation to dream....

Renee Rutana - As a child, I was fascinated by the vibrant colors of sunsets, the seasons, flowers and certain landscapes. But all of my life I have suffered from severe asthma. While the other children were outside enjoying the snow or jumping in the fallen leaves, blooming flowers of spring, etc. I was inside, looking out the window wishing I could be a part of it. I would never have acquired my artistic skills if it hadn't been for my asthma. I learned to draw and paint, due to many times staying home in bed or at the hospitals (for a couple weeks at a time)with not much to do. It was my escape, a cherished place I could create and imagine I was there instead. While these days my asthma is better, thanks to new medications, I still feel the joy in my heart of creating a special window to the world, my world, for those also interested to see too. My goal as an artist was to paint these subjects capturing the very things that change quickly due to the season or weather or aging. I wanted to shed light on every day things that many people take ...
