Artists Describing Their Art:
Shoshannah Brombacher - Art makes the world within the artist visible. Classical music, poetry, Jewish and Chassidic stories, traveling, the love for people and memories of eras gone but not forgotten, cities where I lived and worked, like Amsterdam, Berlin, Jerusalem, New York, or visited, like Prague and Sicily, are the main ingredients of my art. My art is like the water of the canals of my native Amsterdam, Rembrandts city, the deeper you look into it, the more you see. A reflection of a reflection of a reflection...look, what you see is not what you see. My art contains texts and letters, lets writing come alive, and reflects my deep connection with the Dutch 17th century Masters, German expressionism, Russian art and medieval miniatures. My art is also a tribute to music and the world of the great Chassidic masters of Eastern Europe. The Kotzker Rebbe listened to a Chassidic storyteller in the street and stated He told what he wanted and I heard what I needed. That is Art. ...
Robert Reinhardt - Artist Statement My camera lens explores the inspiring and sensitive interconnections between the temporal elements of time and history and their relationship to the changing environment. Several photographic software programs are employed to recreate the original landscape photograph to manipulate the original design of these images. It is the careful observer that begins to discover the delicate objects and surfaces that lie hidden amidst the many layers of images all packaged into one final piece. My intention is to subject the original images to the ravages of time. The rich patinas and the weather worn surfaces magnetically draw me in as I return each image. The images that I chose to include document a specific theme of aEURoeEnd of DaysaEUR. The newly constructed images bring to life a strength that lives on in these landscapes. They seem almost indifferent to the elements that continue to wear at their surfaces and challenge their structural integrity. At the same time, nature is painting an entirely new palette in which they will exist. It is the collision and contrast of that ongoing confrontation that draws me into these landscapes. No models, diagrams, or photos are ever referred to or utilized in any of my sculptures. The image, thought, or idea that comes into my heart and mind is simply acted on by what I sculpt. What has helped me get over the greatest loss in my personal life is this simple saying that came to me shortly after loosing that which meant the world to me and that is simply this When we forgive others and ourselves we live, When we dont, we cease living Robert Haifley, Artist, Sculptor, Author...

Peter Odeh - My rendition is a blend of the inspiration from the masters, with immense influence my African culture has had on me,which makes me the product of a philosophy. As such every stroke of brush i make in an attempt to realize my visual conception is a true manifestation of my existence. And after many years of painting though i still find myself a traveler with my destiny on the horizon, giving me the notion to believe that the ends of painting are undefined boundaries of the human spirit....
Yaroslav Kurbanov - Interview with artist Yaroslav Kurbanov 2011 How do you define what is art for you and what is not My attitude towards art in general and my art in particular is defined by the following points Firstly - A work of art has to have an idea, whether its current or already in the context of history. The main thing is that it should excite the viewer, awaken his senses and invite reflection. These days, artists often try to replace the whole palette of emotions that art is meant to evoke with plain shock and rejection. Secondly - The artist must find the right material, as well as the right technique and form, to express his idea in the best possible way. One should not stick blindly to any style, especially if it does not meet the objectives that the artist has set out to achieve. The work of art must come first, not the personality of the artist. And a work of art has to work even without the context of the person who created it. We may not know about the life of the artist, the travails of his artwork or his path, but the artwork must still impress us. ...
