  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Maria Teresa Fernandes - Admiring Teresa's paintings we are touched by her pictorial sensitivity. Difficult task in light colors (volume and transparencies on a clear basis). Few do it due to the required dedication with pallete knife(no brush). It's painting consacrated by the love to paint. Radha Abramo(Renowned art critique)comments at Solo Exhibition Catalog at SESC Paulista in June 84 -( sent at request and reproduced in one of the pages of this site). ...

Dana Zivanovits - Dana Zivanovits was born in 1958 in Columbus, Ohio and received his art training from the Columbus College of Art and Design (1978 to 1982). After art school, he went abroad for a year and studied the art of the old masters in London, Paris, Madrid, Rome and Venice. Returning to his studio in Columbus to develop these influences into a new body of work, he then traveled to Mexico and studied the sculpture and painting of that country for an extended period. The unique and vivid colors of Palenque and Vera Cruz intensified his palette. After a period in Ohio, he then moved to Venice Beach, California where the brilliant light of the region reinforced his desire to capture effects of sunlight and atmosphere. Returning to Ohio in 1995, he has continued to paint themes deriving inspiration form sources such as world mythology, classic and B-grade cinema, literature and dreams. However his primary inspiration is direct observation from nature, versus an approach based in art theories or cultural critique. Dana has been widely represented by galleries and exhibition projects including Julie Rico and Mega Boom in Los Angeles, the Venice Art Detour, Around the Coyote Festival in Chicago ...

Kathi Day - I'm currently a stay at home artist, with a lot of medical bills. Two cats currently own my husband and I, although one technically belongs to my sister. Their names are Chowski and Callie. They eat a lot of cruchies. Buy pictures!!...

Niels Ellmoos - Artist Statement I work in most two dimensional mediums (painting, drawing, computer art as well as three dimensional mediums (including video installation, and sculptural ceramics). In the two dimensional works I consider the work to be'spiritual' in nature as often the images manifest through a combination of meditation and sub-conscious energy. Often I begin the process of creativity not knowing what the image is going to end up looking like. The first lines and marks can resemble a child's drawing, generally loose in structure. As the work progresses and the energy builds in a stream of consciousness - an image which is recognisable emerges. To date , landscape and variations of landscapes are the resultant images although spiritual figures have appeared during the process. ...

Dennis Howell - As you already know, my name is Dennis Howell. I have been drawing since elementary school. I continued up until I Graduated from High School. I left art alone pursuing various jobs. When I got tired of that I joined the U.S. Air Force. I served about 5 yrs. then I got out. The reason for the extra year was due to an extended long tour in Germany. For those landscape artists, you really need to go to Germany. I really enjoyed the traveling. What I love most about joining the Air Force and being overseas is that I found God. I was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Ghost at Bethel United Pentecostal Church in Sept./90. From then on I have been learning the ways of God. And one of those ways is using the talent that he has given me, both to glorify his name and support the needs of my family. Although I have very few religious peaces, I'm constantly asked by fellow church members for this. God is also dealing with me on this subject, so I tell those that are waiting, the art is on it...

Michael Rusch - It is interesting how the term Western Art is defined. For many it means cowboys and horses. While others think of the romantic exagerations by Remington. Still others will seriously consider Western Art, only if it represents the Southwest region. Well having been born in the American West.Living on a Farm/Ranch. Mining for coal and moly at one time. Living the city lifestyle as well, I see the the term Western Art as so much more. The color of the West encompasses its land, people and their attitudes . Whether from the past, future or present day, this color has its own unique quality. This is why I don't like to confine my subject matter to only the pre concieved traditional notions or ideas of what American Western Art is. Its the experiences I'm after so I can put them in the art. ...

Tim Guider - Tims latest Protest Mural. To donate, search for - Tim Guider Artist Gofundme - to help fund more of Our Original Heroes Murals. Tim has collaborated with Aboriginal artist Frank Wright on this mural, and they want to create more of these murals in Sydney and in other cities and towns across Australia. Born with a natural talent for art, at age 22 years Tim decided to pursue a career as an artist. He studied at the National Art School, Sydney and received an Artists Development Grant from the Australia Council. He now has 45 years of professional artistic development to bring to his work. Since the mid 1980s his murals, canvas paintings and sculpture have attracted an enormous amount of television and press coverage both nationally and globally. A few image examples of Tims work are included in this portfolio which clearly show the wide range of materials and techniques this artist has mastered. He includes sculpture effects in murals. He has painted his sculptures and even uses internal illumination as well as mechanical movement in sculpture. Much of Tims artwork has a theme of multicultural Australia and our Aboriginal heritage. I have known Tim for over 30 years. I was ...

Alice Buttress - My name is Alice Buttress and I live the lovely highland village of Carrbridge near the Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland. Sangeeta Singh - Sangeeta Singh I am an art nomad. Traveling and exploring styles, mediums, themes and techniques - both traditional and contemporary. Combining intuition and technique, I seek to create a sublime fusion of thought and medium. My colors are rich, always luminous.Intense.Striking. For me art is a celebration of life and an inward journey of growth and awakening. I have been a professional artist for the past 20+ years. I have completed and commissioned over a thousand paintings for clients across India, UK, Canada, France and the US. The paintings are in various styles-both traditional and contemporary and represent multiple mediums that I have worked with. I have experimented with great success with mixing traditional tools and techniques with contemporary mediums (painting with vegetable dyes & natural substances on Cedar wood), frescos on cement walls, Charcoal on canvas, painting with leather batik, Etching and painting on metal foils, brushed steel laminate, and glass. Overview of my art education and training * Studied Fine Art at the College of Fine Arts and Architecture at Hyderabad, India * Diploma in Ceramics from LS Raheja College of Art, Mumbai * Studied "Patachitra", the traditional art of Orissa for 3 years with the help of a "guru" ...

Wendy Lippincott - Complex allegories dominate the many themes that pervade Ms. Lippincott's paintings. She prefers incorporating science into her art, consistent with her background in electrical engineering, but often gets waylaid with mythological and historical visions. Her paintings are currently only available for licensing. She hopes to have prints available soon. ...
