Randy Cousins - I love Nature: all plants, animals and the minerals that make the magnificent topography. I feel ashamed at being one of the species that has done such damage to the planet. We have made the air more difficult to breathe and the fresh water less potable, destroyed land habitat and driven to extinction even once common species. While we are on the verge of fishing to extinction the entire ocean system, we dump tons of plastic--that have become submerged islands the size of continents--into it. In addition, the degree that animal agriculture impacts our environment as well as perpetuates suffering on our fellow beings, while increasing healthcare costs due to obesity and related disease is overwhelming. My affinity for Buddhist philosophy has made it impossible for me to look away. I try to live my life making as little impact as I am able. And though I am compromised physically by exposure to toxins and chemicals, I do what I can to help fellow beings--regardless of species (firstly, by not eating them). My art is about the ruined and what it becomes, the impermanent visible and invisible, the balance that is necessary to maintain some kind of ...

Eduardo Diaz - Statement My name is Eduardo DIaz and Iim a Mexican artist residing in the Bay Area since 2001. In my work I express different elements of Mexican culture, while emphasizing its Native American heritage. I incorporate native themes and images, both extant and prehispanic, into my works and combine them with personal feelings, experiences or fears. Although cultural elements are the essence of my art, through them I also like to express political and social opinions. As a Mexican, I feel in touch with the problems at the Mexican-American border, as well as with the issues facing Mexican immigrants. I also like to express the tension between the indigenous and the industrialized worlds, and to analyze the different elements that make up Mexican identity, especially when confronted with life in a different country. My favorite medium is oil painting. I use vivid and deep colors, with which I reflect the light of the Mexican sun. Some of my compositions are figurative, and oscillate between realistic scenes and more elaborated images, with affinity to surrealism. My most recent productions are less figurative and combine the same vivid colors into expressive abstract constructions. Biography My name is Eduardo D...

An-Chi Cheng - 'The Longer I Serve Him, the Sweeter It Grows...' I was born in a Christian family with an artistic backgoround; my father and brother are musicians that both art and music is the centre of my life. My mother is a Professor in Education. It has not been easy to have three artists living under the same roof because each one is occupied with one's own world of creativity. It leaves my mother by herself to "clean up" after us to make sure the smooth running of our daily life. Ever since I was four, my parents would take my brother and I to sing gospel songs in different churches on a regular basis. I chose to become a christian and was baptised when I was sixteen. God's love has always been my strength and comfort and without Him I wouldn't have gone this far. Recently we lost our second baby boy Joshua (name according to Joshua 24:15 in the Holy Bible) due to SIDS.. God gave us the very memorable and precious 27 days family time together with him, we treasure every moments of it. A song called "Mourn the Death of a Dream" [(Acts...

Cyril Donkor - As a contemporary artist/metal and wood sculptor and a textile designer, Cyril Shiva Donkor works in any medium that nature has made available. He has aspired toward being an artist from an early age. He began by practicing with a wide variety of media. He learned the use of the chisel in woodcarvings of contemporary figures and popular icons. He then went on to develop his craft, blending his knowledge in metal works, wood work and paintings. His works focus on themes of cultural and socio-political issues, primarily inspired by the scarcity of the environment in which he was brought up, His style is popularly referred to as "tingi linge abstract art and sculptures", which refers to the hunger and starvation in Africa....

Jeanclaude Davreux - SPONSOR Blinds by Window Improvements Dear friend, I warmly thank you for the honnor that you make me while agreeing these some words inspired by your work Jean-Claude DAVREUX ? How i know it ? At one time or the Palestinian people were victim of the misinformation most skilfully assembled and the amalgams most simplistic. They were very few those which,by their feathers, their words or their brush dared to express the right history of the Palestinian people, its sufferings, its uprooting, its humanism, because they navigate against the current? But its is thanks to this small number that more and more , the collective conscience took possession of the reality of the drama palestinian. And that, nowadays, its cause is know better, better included understood. Jean-Claude Davreux forms part of these"right" which served the truth and which showed with powerfull colors the endurance of the Palestinian people. One often described it like a loner, and it be perhaps that which it have carry towards an other people solitary, ignore and often victim of prejuges. The brush of this artist have well know express the extend and ...

Barbara A. Sloan - It does not matter to me what other artists are selling. I create images that come from my heart and soul. I apply the same philosophy to my writings and music. I must be true to myself. Otherwise, for me, it is simply not worth doing. ...

Peter Marangi - I am an illustrator and artist that distinguishes himself from the masses. My ability to voice opinions and convey messages through my art has allowed me the opportunity to develop a truly unique style and vision. It is difficult to separate ones character from ones work. The people and causes I feel passionate about are depicted in much of my work with the same strength and emotion that they instill in me. I believe that along with my talent, it is this passion that has garnered a great deal of attention around my recent work. After graduating from Sheridan College this past spring (after a nine year hiatus) I was presented with the Faculty Award of 2002 which recognized outstanding achievements within the renowned program. As my career continues to progress I have also managed to impress several magazine publications with my original style. The respect of the art community, faculty, art directors and advertising executives has provided me with confidence and assurances that my work has mass appeal and definite validity. My experience as an autoworker for the past nine years at the Ford Oakville Truck Plant has served as enlightenment and inspiration for the "Ford Series". This slice ...

Alex Wu - "I feel art is the aesthetic documentation of our human experience. The artist is a filter in the documentation process. They use all their sense to observe the world around them, then process this information with opinions and emotions to create a visual recording." - Scott Foster ...
