Artists Describing Their Art:

Brian Aurelio Piccini - I have always been a strong believer that to enjoy life to it`s fullest one must take the time to stop and'smell the roses'. Nature is full of perfect harmonies which for many go unnoticed. Through my work I love to bring these perfections to light with the relief that in doing so I may enrich the lives of others. More about my life as an artist and a larger collection of work is readily available to you at

Yoli Salmona - I paint to capture an experience, a feeling, and strive to share it through colour, form, and light. AERIAL LANDSCAPES It's a different beauty from the air, more poignant and more objective in its apparent immobility. Whether formal or natural, the landscapes seen from the air become become more abstract. I can playfully re-order and move around details and elements of reality- mostly trees and shadows- like tesserae in a mosaic. PORTRAITS To portray is for me to express an unequivocal presence, a feeling for an actual person. Sometimes, there can be an ambivalence, an invitation to a question, particularly fascinating when painting young people. For me, a successful portrait has an element of timelessness, while revealing something about the subject's present circumstance. BACKGROUND Born in France, I was a child who was drawing all the time. But for various reasons, I was unable to attend Art school growing up, and became a clothes/costume designer for ten years before studying (section Communication Visuelle) at the Paris Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs. My aim then was to reach a wide audience trough Print, and Paris Art Publisher Flammarion gave me the first of a...

Matthew Hickey - Matthew Hickey is a 38 year old artist originally from Levittown, New York. He graduated with honors from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan in 1995. He lives and works in the northeast of England, and his work is featured in private collections worldwide. Figure paintings as well as portraiture and landscape are the focus of Hickey's career, offering a prevailing and unique insight into the optical nuances of this new century. Commissions and studio visits are always welcome at Hickey Studio. Call or email for inquiries, questions, comments. ...

Jack Diamond - My interest in art as self expression started at a very early age. I sold my first painting at eighteen. Never attending an art school I learned my craft on the job as an apprentice to master craftsmen. Learning to do restoration work, to paint reproductions of the old masters paintings, as well as painting murals, faux and Trompe l'oeil for many of the world's most demanding clients. Later I attended Akron University to study theater scene painting. As a master artist I have designed and painted theater scenery for numerous productions and painted private commissions for well established internationally known designers as well as original works that are collected around the world. I taught painting as an adjunct professor at Ashland University and The Richland Art Academy. Now working in my New York studio I have turned my attention to capturing the times and world I live in. I paint by memory because I want to paint only the memorable. My compositions take form in my imagination based on my experiences. Currently, my work reflects my interest in math and it's connection to nature, specifically in Fractal geometry, exploring the idea of fusing infinite and finite ...

Arnold Grace Jr - I cannot imagine what my life would be without the ability to express my inner-most thoughts, dreams and other realities in a visual manner. I express myself through acrylic and oil paintings, mostly on canvas medium. The urge to recreate and interpret my internal and external stimulants is primal and brings me much satisfaction. I do not limit myself to any particular style. However I do tend to paint in an impressionistic form, verging on surrealism, imaginative and figurative representation also. My designs are not complicated or over worked images, but are effective statements of my experiences, augmented by the use of brilliant shimmering color composed from a tight pallette of primary and secondary colors. My subjects are people scenes, landscapes, seascapes and whatever I am compelled to do....

Kees Van Eyck - My works of art express a metarealistic perception of our world, traditional in the history of Dutch painting. However, the source of my inspiration can also be found in European surrealism as well in American hyper-, and photo realism. In my collection Portraits of Icons of the post-war period of the 20th century I introduced the iconography of our era. These images of celebrities characterise movie-stars, media personalities plus inspirational individuals from the field of music, art, politics and philosophy. With these portraits I pay tribute to famous people with extraordinary gifts and talents, who influenced the development of mankind and left their mark on various fields during the 20th century. My perception of life on Earth is often depicted in a surrealistic manner. My attitude towards our environment is charged with criticism as well as hope for a better future. My paintings aspire to evoke the sense of beauty and to raise awareness of burning issues in todays world....

Archna Jaideep Singh - Concept Statement ARCHNA JAIDEEP SINGH My paintings are myself and a flow of my inner being. The inspiring force is the interaction of my moods in response to the environment, changing seasons and the romance of my life. I derive great happiness in the process. Happiness has something to do with struggling and enduring and accomplishing. The feeling of happiness comes when a painting becomes a finished product. Everything around us is an expression of varied selves - creative or destructive. Artistic creativity has myriad forms. Conversation is a fine art so is dancing, singing, storytelling, writing and film making and each is a powerful instrument for social change. Good writing and cinema have always inspired me. Possibly, the art of living a joyous life is the finest art of all. My art is my creative expression of love for people, curiosity about the world and the cosmos, devotion to the sublime and preoccupation with evolution of my artistic self and personhood. My purpose is to create beauty in times when ugliness and crassness have almost become a cult. In my nudes I paint the eternal human being in the most natural form transcending boundaries of geography, culture and time. In ...

Ken Hillberry - In art and in life, dynamics of balance, integrity and tolerant interaction of all elements or participants ought to be see, experienced and maintained. At the same time, the challenge of affecting this balance is creatively encountering all changes and adapt accordingly. For some, the destination or pre-determined outcomes are sought more often than not. Then there are some who savor the journey, thus witnessing and enjoying developments along the way. I fall into the latter category. It's like watching the film develop in a darkroom. the image takes form a little at a time right before my eyes. The creative process, for me, is void of pressure and timeless. The ability and practice and discipline are central in my approach. My creative intent is to engage a viewer in thought and emotion, as well as, with their eyes. Using imagination, retrospect or model, my range of composition can be conceptual, perhaps impressionistic or abstract in application, but always developed to evoke an awareness and appreciation for the relative conditions in life experience and art form as I incisively or playfully interpret my experiences along the way. ...

Ken Hillberry - Dion Mcinnis - Anyone can take a photograph...push a button. The magic is in the seeing...seeing with all your senses. My work, no matter the subject, comes from seeing with all my senses and then creating to share with others. www.PoetVision.com...

Grace Liberator - Grace Liberator was born and raised in New England. After traveling and working in Europe she settled back on the East Coast. She continually develops her style and technique switching between the more direct to the abstract, at times studying at the Art Students League. She often uses personal photography to help capture the essence of the natural world. She also uses the emotional experience to capture the inner human spirit in her portraiture through both traditional and surreal imaging. All artworks

Sandi Carpenter - Due to my endless curiosity and wide range of interests, my work has evolved over the years. Just as a musician would change instruments to perfect the mood and rhythm created, I enjoy moving from one medium to another, be it French dyes on silk, watercolor or acrylic. I am always hopeful that the magic I feel in creating these images will be felt by the viewer with similar intensity. I believe it is only then that art really lives....

Dana Zivanovits - Dana Zivanovits was born in 1958 in Columbus, Ohio and received his art training from the Columbus College of Art and Design (1978 to 1982). After art school, he went abroad for a year and studied the art of the old masters in London, Paris, Madrid, Rome and Venice. Returning to his studio in Columbus to develop these influences into a new body of work, he then traveled to Mexico and studied the sculpture and painting of that country for an extended period. The unique and vivid colors of Palenque and Vera Cruz intensified his palette. After a period in Ohio, he then moved to Venice Beach, California where the brilliant light of the region reinforced his desire to capture effects of sunlight and atmosphere. Returning to Ohio in 1995, he has continued to paint themes deriving inspiration form sources such as world mythology, classic and B-grade cinema, literature and dreams. However his primary inspiration is direct observation from nature, versus an approach based in art theories or cultural critique. Dana has been widely represented by galleries and exhibition projects including Julie Rico and Mega Boom in Los Angeles, the Venice Art Detour, Around the Coyote Festival in Chicago ...
