Artists Describing Their Art:
Rebeca Calvogomez - I needed therapy. All this frustration, anger, sadness and introversion issues I've never been good at expressing my feelings with words, or asking for what I need, or saying no before I explode. And so come painting. No words, just images. Me, alone with my images. A perfect match. Even better, it could all be done with oil painting, so I needed turpentine, with that smell that I love so much maybe it makes me high, who knows. Getting your hands and clothes dirty, listening to the light sound of the brush on a canvas or a piece of wood and submerging myself in the colors and shapes that come to existence in front of me. That's how I find my pleasure. It started with painting images of small details, a tree, a rock, a street daily images that stayed with me because they captured my imagination, made me calm, or frightened me, or brought me back to some cherished memory of a sweet smell, or the wind on my naked body Windows into a world that was out there but come to live inside me. Then come "On Humanity", those abandoned dogs, and cook fights, bull fights, ...
Jernej Tramte - Carving is an old profession and it has experienced full boom in the past, for the first time in ancient Egypt and in Europe in the Middle Ages. It can be seen in the classic, old art, but pleasant lines of manually treated wood are also included in a modern setting, where they diversify and fill the space. My products are just that and they promote positive energy in space and bring peace and love. Each tree and wood has its own vibration. Wood is beautiful however it is treated, but most important for me is to revive and reimburse life to it in another form, in harmony with my expression, which vibrates in the direction of unconditional love. When working with wood I feel and connect with it, which is imprinted in the product. I work with a variety of wood materials oak, walnut, pear, cherry, alder, linden ..., also choosing them according to the harmony with the product. Bartolus is my artistic name, which is derivative of the Hebrew word for Jernej, as this is my name. I wish you a pleasant visit of my site, Jernej Tramte...
Diana Donici - Donart workshop came out of passion, the main ingredient for every succesfull activity. For us, the mosaic is the most fascinating part of all plastic arts: first of all, for its unicity and complexity, then for its resistance in time and never getting old-fashioned. And the last but not the least, for the huge passion that comes out of the mosaic artist during dozens or even hundreds of hours of work for a single project. At Donart workshop, we mainly use colored glass for making mosaics, for its proved higher standards compared to ceramic. For sacred themes, such as icons and mural mosaics, we insert pure gold, most of it of 24K. We are specialised in sacred mosaic, but we are glad to work any artistic theme. We invite you to check our gallery, the blog, and also the updated Facebook profile and page:
Yaroslav Kurbanov - Interview with artist Yaroslav Kurbanov 2011 How do you define what is art for you and what is not My attitude towards art in general and my art in particular is defined by the following points Firstly - A work of art has to have an idea, whether its current or already in the context of history. The main thing is that it should excite the viewer, awaken his senses and invite reflection. These days, artists often try to replace the whole palette of emotions that art is meant to evoke with plain shock and rejection. Secondly - The artist must find the right material, as well as the right technique and form, to express his idea in the best possible way. One should not stick blindly to any style, especially if it does not meet the objectives that the artist has set out to achieve. The work of art must come first, not the personality of the artist. And a work of art has to work even without the context of the person who created it. We may not know about the life of the artist, the travails of his artwork or his path, but the artwork must still impress us. ...
