Judith Smith Wilson - Dana Zivanovits - Dana Zivanovits was born in 1958 in Columbus, Ohio and received his art training from the Columbus College of Art and Design (1978 to 1982). After art school, he went abroad for a year and studied the art of the old masters in London, Paris, Madrid, Rome and Venice. Returning to his studio in Columbus to develop these influences into a new body of work, he then traveled to Mexico and studied the sculpture and painting of that country for an extended period. The unique and vivid colors of Palenque and Vera Cruz intensified his palette. After a period in Ohio, he then moved to Venice Beach, California where the brilliant light of the region reinforced his desire to capture effects of sunlight and atmosphere. Returning to Ohio in 1995, he has continued to paint themes deriving inspiration form sources such as world mythology, classic and B-grade cinema, literature and dreams. However his primary inspiration is direct observation from nature, versus an approach based in art theories or cultural critique. Dana has been widely represented by galleries and exhibition projects including Julie Rico and Mega Boom in Los Angeles, the Venice Art Detour, Around the Coyote Festival in Chicago ...

Marcia Collins - I taught myself how to draw portraits in charcoal about 6 years ago and started out with portraits of my son and his friends. I loved being able to give these one of a kind gifts to my friends and family members and seeing the looks on their faces!! I do commissions of people, pets and homes throughout the year and you can visit my website www.marcicollins.com for more information on ordering a commissioned portrait. I have recently taken lessons in soft pastel and love being able to offer this service as well. Thank you for looking and I would love to hear from you!!...

Jack Mccarthy - I am basically a story-teller who uses prints as my vocabulary. My approach to printmaking is eclectic. On one hand, I use traditional relief printing methods either a baren or a 1947 Vandercook Press, named Ursula. On the other hand, I experiment using brayers, stencils, natural and found objects, anything that has texture. My work is influenced by life experience and, most importantly, my constant amazement of what human beings believe in and how they choose to live their lives! Many of my prints are allegorical in nature and almost all are visual stories. I am presently working on a variety of projects: One is a series of relief prints based on medieval stories, both secular and religious. One edition is comprised of prints depicting religious beliefs and stories of 8th to 14th century Europe, what is normally but erroneously called "The Dark Ages" and/or the Gothic Period. The stories are delightful and, at times, gruesome. Many are Christian stories based on non-Christian (pagan) myths. The second project is a small edition of handmade books with original prints based on the Old Testament. The third is a book which will be a pictorial depiction of the life ...

Juraj Skalina - Started participating in after school art program in the Middle School. Studied for 4 years at the School of Art and Design in Bratislava, Slovakia. After graduating high school, continued studies at the University PJS, majoring in Fine Art and Slavic languages. Events in Czechoslovakia during the years 1968-69 forced him leave the country and immigrate to Israel. In Israel graduated from Bezalel School of Art with the degree BFA in 1974. During the years 1975-81 worked in the field of textile design as an art director. From 1981-1986 owned and operated The Art Lovers Gallery in New York City, specializing in custom framing and sale of fine art. In 1987 moved to Tucson Arizona, where continued in business of custom framing and gallery by operating and owning Famous French Gallery. All through the years continued to draw and from the year 2000 participated in Open Studio sessions in The Tucson Drawing Studio. During the years 2002-4 participated in the juried shows of the TDS. Today the work of Juraj Skalina can be seen at Famous French Gallery. Juraj Skalina ...

Maria Teresa Fernandes - Admiring Teresa's paintings we are touched by her pictorial sensitivity. Difficult task in light colors (volume and transparencies on a clear basis). Few do it due to the required dedication with pallete knife(no brush). It's painting consacrated by the love to paint. Radha Abramo(Renowned art critique)comments at Solo Exhibition Catalog at SESC Paulista in June 84 -( sent at request and reproduced in one of the pages of this site). ...

Laura Imhoff - My name is Laura Imhoff and I am the owner and photographer of Perception Studio. I graduated magna cum laude from the Myers School of Art, University of Akron in 2006 with a BFA in photography, and minors in painting, art history, and professional photography. While in school, my goal was to practice as many disciplines and approaches to art as possible so that I could gain a true understanding of what it meant to be an artist. But what did that require? It meant, "eat, breathe, and sleep" art. So, that is exactly what I did. While my classes offered technical advice for each discipline I tried, I learned the most from the artists of past decades and my colleagues. Sharing my life and art with them, and vice versa, showed me a world of possibilities and gave me a real appreciation for art in all its forms (and people, too). I decided that art school really wasn't about learning how to BE an artist, but instead about how to defend why YOU are an artist. Being an artist isn't about being techinically the best, which is what I had always strived for...its about the ideas ...

Raechel Running - Freelance photographer, Raechel Marie Running, creates images that are more than just photographs. Her work is rooted in the tradition of documentary and portrait photography and serves as a foundation for her collage and multimedia pieces that are as diverse as her subjects and interests. She photographs friends and the people she meets along the way, who pose simply as themselves and sometimes are transformed through the creative nature of the imagination into archtypical images that explore the pathos and skewed beauty of the universal drama and diversity of the human soul. Raechel continually draws inspiration from the visual influences of Impressionistic painters , Chicano art and other photographers and writers whose work has inspired her to walk the road less traveled. With her camera often serving as a passport, she explores the multifaceted world, recording her own experiences and impressions with pictures and scraps of memorabilia to make an eclectic record to serve as reference for her art. She combines hand painting and Polaroid transfers with a variety of mixed media to make elaborately embellished collages full of the vibrant colors of her multicultural heritage that pay homage to Beauty. Raechel, of Trinidadian and American descent grew up in the ...
