Welcome to Andrea Waxman Mulcahy's Portfolio.
The individual elements that make up the sculptures are lines drawn in space.
The unbent steel rod presents as a simple line. This line is layered, woven,
and conjoined with others to create volume while capturing an energetic state.
When constructing each sculpture, I utilize the additive/subtractive
process, linking pieces together with welds then cutting those pieces to create a
distinctive exterior. The structural integrity is an important part of the sculpture,
allowing the viewer to see how the pieces are connected and how they rely on the
other pieces for their support.
