Artist Statement:
General information
My goal as an artist is to capture and explore the power that the female form holds over me personally and over society in general. My vision is to have the power of the female form breathe life into the overall vista of each image.
My work is divided into 5 series of style.
The Gaea series of images “Mother Earth” created in the “great outdoors” tend to have a super-saturated, colorful painted quality to them.
On the other hand, the Concrete Angel series are images shot in and around human built constructions and are often set in stark black and white, in an attempt to strip away the veneer of civilization and show true raw emotion.
The Living Poetry series merges the aesthetics and artistic flow of poetry and the female form to make powerful statements within the image. The poetry enhances the woman and the woman enhances the poem.
My Sauda series, Swahili for “Dark Beauty”, I focus on women of African descent, exploring their rich skin tones and unique curves. And like all women, there is a wide range of emotions and thoughts lurking within. I aim to display this range from the proud ...
