  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Elena Mary Siff - In the collages and assemblages I interpret the mystery, the humor and the threat of my dreams. By collecting and juxaposing bits of disparate material, I create my own order. The souvenirs of my travels have been a constant source of inspiration. I am fascinated with very small imagery and a great variety of materials and textures. All of this work is a form of narration, as I consider myself primarily a storyteller. "Everything can be used, but of course one doesn't know it at the time. How does one know what a certain object will tell another/" Joseph Cornell That unpredictable dialogue is the basis of my method and my faith. Elena Mary Siff ...

Basant Soni - ECO-FRIENDLY ART Creative use of my creators resources - My Organic Art does not impact the environment or waste paper and therefore trees. I feel that I am earnestly using waste of organic materials which could have been perished with course of time. But it is one of the God's natural gifts in their rarest forms to create a new and use my imagination and intuition. Waste not - want not - many papers saved can equal many trees. I do not want to waste my natural resources in any way. ...

Susan Baquie - My art work varies in style as it is the result of experience and observation, as well as formal studies. From a type of surrealism to expressionism, sometimes more realistic and at others abstract in conception, many of my pictures reveal a psychological awareness, at times a depiction of trauma, and at others, the joys of colour, pattern, design and the flow of paint or ink across canvas or paper. Painting is like life itself, a constant mirroring of energy, a dynamic pouring of the soul onto two dimensions. It can be caring or selfish, it can be political, humanistic and even cruel. It is a way of life and as with poets and writers, often a happy work and often hard. It is wonderful to be able to show work on the Internet in this way. ...

Florine Justine - "Artists create Art to communicate ideas, thoughts or feelings. There are a variety of methods: Literature, painting, photography, sculpting and so. I choose to express myself in " Fine Art" as a painter. -Fine Art- " I try to catch colors to give to the Reality, Brightness, Contrast and Life". I work on Oil or/and Acrylic techniques, on Canvas and in many genres (Still life, Landscapes, Flowers, Portraits, Animals, Abstracts ). Painting imposed itself to me and complete my communication needs. I paint by passion for Life, and Colors. If you want to know more about my Art, I invite you to consult my Painting Gallery. ...

Janice Young - I work in multiple mediums. When I get an idea, I think, how can I express this visually. Sometimes the medium is the inspiration. I reuse materials from demolition, use leftovers from construction, gather raw materials from nature, and experiment with commercially produced materials. I have a drive to create. I would like what I create to provoke thought as to the beauty and importance of all life and the effect our massive appetites have on that life. ...

Moustafa Al Hatter - Artist Statement The important change of my pictorial background took place In the Caribbean, I found myself immersed in the tropical light, which suggested an approximation and rediscovering of color, but the big change happened in Egypt I was touched by its great ancient civilizations. Maybe the transformation in Egypt and in the Caribbean was due to the accumulation of remembrances of my travels to different countries all over the world that were finally settled and allowed the technical and stylistic turn of my painting. Moreover I began to capture those magical and mysterious moments of life, from the obvious that can be seen by my eyes, to the visionary that is perceived by my heart and soul. In my work of art, I abandon the representation of reality, and Stay away from mundane affairs. There is an intention to paint from my memory, which gathers and molds the remembrance of travels, promenades in mysterious old civilizations, and in tropical latitudes. The conventional means of expression is put aside, thus allowing spontaneity with the intention of preserving directness and originality of the living experience. I have placed my art into compartments, while maintaining a sense of unity. The small painted ...

Chris Jehn - I am primarily a self taught artist and have always felt creative. I worked my way through college by teaching crafts at an arts and crafts store, everything from embroidery and macrame to tole painting and pottery. I have taken numerous workshops from other practicing artists. Being with a group of other artists creates a synergy that inspires me. I now primarily work with acrylics and collage. I especially love intense color, and have made a study of color composition. One of the main reasons I live in Colorado is because almost everywhere you look there is something wonderful, and IaEURtmm compelled to try to paint what I see and feel. ...

She is currently living in Washington State near the beautiful and inspiring Olympic National Park. :::::::::::: While I have a formal art education, I find myself breaking rules more and more often and certainly trying to "un-teach" a lot of the formal part of the education. I just do what I love best, indeed, have to do...Create. I am constantly inspired by life and my surroundings. I find that abstract expressionism and experimentation suits me best though I enjoy working representational as well. It depends on my...

Marta Baricsa - I call myself a Directivist and I paint with deliberate intent. My paintings are primarily non-representational. They are inspired by energy, movement, sound or common things. I express this through large broad brushstrokes, washes of colour and layered drips of paint. I work mostly large scale; five by seven feet or larger. I often work in dark tones or bright colours. The paintings can be concrete or random in their composition, linear or sculptural in their presence. It is the contrast that I find most interesting. My paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Vancouver, Toronto and New York. They are included in public, corporate and private collections. I was born in London, England. I graduated from the Experimental Arts department at The Ontario College of Art ( Now called The Ontario College of Art & Design ) in Toronto, Ontario Canada. I am painting The Olympians. The Greek Gods -Apollo, Zeus and Poseidon and others. See www.martabaricsa.com for more images....

Pedro Martin De Clet - Born: Brooklyn; New York. Raised:New Haven; Connecticut. "I am completely self-taught. & although I work in all mediums, I consider myself first & foremost a Painter. My subject matter is everything having to do with life. Love, hate, joy, fear, pain, happiness, sorrow, & everything in between. I Paint what others can't or won't. I believe that ideas are only as good as the content that embodies them. I Paint the truth. I have no time to waste. Neither the viewers, nor mine. I leave that to the pretenders & posers, content on ideas without substance & clean hands. Painting should be as real as the Paint on the canvas, or piece of paper; or what have you. I do not mean that it has to be figurative, but that it should carry the weight & conviction of a soul. Then if it is any good, the viewer will either love it, or hate it. & this is what I am after." pedro ...

Michelle Daly - I am interested in capturing moments often felt more strongly then seen. This idea has taken many forms in painting, drawing, making, and living. Paintings here include a series of works that strive to articulate a tenuous balance between process and finished artwork. I approach each painting as a dialogue with no preconceived intention. I use a combination of found and invented shapes that reference both geometry and the natural world. I build the compositions in layers, reworking the surface, adding and deleting information. This process continues until I find the moment when the work is resolved, but just barely. I am searching for the place with each painting when the process is still evident, yet there are moments that are unconventionally beautiful. This idea has lead me to begin a series of smaller works that seek to explore the more narrative quality of abstract painting. I view each work as a fragment or short story, building together into something that is perhaps more. I am also exploring ideas of noticing space in a series of drawings known as "the space between" These drawings take negative space as their subject matter, and look for deeper interest in the way such ...
