Welcome to Mark Dolce's Portfolio.
There are four bodies (or styles) of work I make that are continually in progress: Contemporary Icons, Digital Collage (photographic images without a camera), Objects and Photo in a Photo. The iconic series of double exposed color negatives are my perspectives and thoughts toward the use or replacement of Icons in our society. I have also chosen to interject, assemble, rearrange and combine ideas using images to raise questions, through an exchange of personal experience and introspection regarding societal values. I sometimes pick up random objects and hold them to be photographed. I sometimes make photographs with a post card image of an iconic nature held in my hand. I place selected found objects in certain and specific arrangements and photograph them. These exercises reveal new meaning and life on a level of absurdity that makes sense only to the ones who can see the value in things less widely circulated.
