This piece of art was originally inspired from a woodpecker etching his own design on the side of a barn. During that same time period I was reading the words of Lame Deer and Black Elk. All about the White Buffalo Woman and the Sacred Pipe. Anyway the woodpecker's oval etching inspired me to mimic the shape on this painting along with illustrating a beautiful cultural telling.
