  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Renee Rutana - As a child, I was fascinated by the vibrant colors of sunsets, the seasons, flowers and certain landscapes. But all of my life I have suffered from severe asthma. While the other children were outside enjoying the snow or jumping in the fallen leaves, blooming flowers of spring, etc. I was inside, looking out the window wishing I could be a part of it. I would never have acquired my artistic skills if it hadn't been for my asthma. I learned to draw and paint, due to many times staying home in bed or at the hospitals (for a couple weeks at a time)with not much to do. It was my escape, a cherished place I could create and imagine I was there instead. While these days my asthma is better, thanks to new medications, I still feel the joy in my heart of creating a special window to the world, my world, for those also interested to see too. My goal as an artist was to paint these subjects capturing the very things that change quickly due to the season or weather or aging. I wanted to shed light on every day things that many people take ...

Palle Adamos Finn Jensen - Palle Alamos Finn Jensen is a danish artist. Born in 1949 in Denmark. He has created abstract and figurative expressionistic and coloristic paintings since 1979. Educated in art at Dalgasskolen Art highshool among other art school. Worked as a teacher in math and physics from 1979 to 1985 Poems about freedom and love. Paintings showing the fight against absurdity. Express the conflict between order and wild chaos. The inner conflict between Dionysos and Apollon. Paintings of fantasy butterflies representing freedom and the psyche. His goal is to praise life through his art. Inspired by Gods wisdom and love He now makes drawings and watercolor inspired by visions and life itself He triedsto express the unity with nature and unity with cosmos ...

A M Bowe - Anne-Marie Bowe was born in Dublin and is from a family of Irish Artists. She lives in England and has been exhibiting regularly both there and in her home town of Dublin ever since. Her main focus is on portraiture in oil and acrylic, however, she excels in figurative work as well as landscapes and cityscapes. She is a member of the Virginia Waters Art Society....

Sam Thorp - My art is a way of communicating the resolving of the conflicts that occurs in all our lives. Whether it is a confrontation with another, struggle against the world, or a clash against ourselves; the figurative imagery represents the conflict as it is worked out on paper or canvas. When my work is going well I feel a sense of power and rhythm from the action of drawing, of moving through space with minimal effort and obstruction. No distraction just on to the next move. Much like mastering Tai Chi or some other martial art. I am constantly searching for the right pose to convey the right body language. I want a certain amount of challenge to the forms, negative space and contour. I try to use colors that have vibrancy. The most important element for me is gesture it is the movement of the line I enjoy most. ...

Mark Schwing - Ideally the artist is employed by society at large. The artist helps define culture and culture makes us who we are in whatever time and place we are at. Of course most of us are not living in caves anymore but even then art helped society function; helped the hunter hunt, showed people what to do. Art is still showing people what to do in a way. Whether it is raising awareness by showing what is going on, teaching by example or simply exploring ideas that give people ideas. My art is about ideas as much as anything else but it is a surrealistic and intuitive approach. So what is presented isn't a literal interpretation, it is more like exploring the idea with art. It is really another reality. It mirrors our reality and/or it is influenced by our reality. I can't help but be affected by what is going on around me and I am interested in the transcendental as well. Please visit my website, www.markschwing1.com, for more images....

Jack Reilly - As humans, we generally tend to perceive time in a linear manner. However, many of our common devices used to measure time are formatted in circular configurations. These range from ancient sun dials to analog clocks and modern timepieces. In what we perceive as our physical universe, spherical planets rotate while moving in primarily circular orbits around larger spherical objects as they all hurl through the infinity of space. From Stonehenge to medieval calendars to analog wristwatches, humans have attempted to employ circular motifs to harness or understand the passage of time in relationship to space and the physical world in which we exist. This preoccupation with mysteries of the universe, its vast open spaces, punctuated with uncountable heavenly bodies, have puzzled humans from primitive stargazers in ancient worlds to the most educated of scientists of our time. My interest lies in the investigation, through the medium of abstract painting, of our perception and translation of these elements, both tangible and intangible. This abstract work also acknowledges and comments on significant art historical movements of 20th century painting. My choice to begin on a circular structure creates a visual container that refers to the essence of repetition and endless nature ...
