Jan Chlpka - Jan Chlpka - naive imaginism The painter from Hlozany (Vojvodina, Serbia) Jan Chlpka (1965) belongs to our best and most original painters of naive art today. To poetics of inset imaginism tied him his increased imagination. As a result such an orientation we can find a reduced space of painting without any unnecessary details and expressed expressive stylization of shapes. He also uses colors in accordance with inter and not mimetic meaning. The most frequent themes of his painting creation are animals, which is natural while his occupation is veterinary surgeon. Here we can notice other rare component of painter's creation - humor. Vladimir Valentik, art historian...
Anne Bradford - ARTIST STATEMENT 7121 My paintings tell a story in pictures with images that are realistic, abstract, or a combination of both. In many paintings, I have mixed different elements together, i.e. architectural details with still life, giant plants with graphics, landscapes that are abstracted or images borrowed from art history with fabric designs. Its like a collage of mix and match that somehow all work together. When realism is involved, I generally work from my own photos, either directly, or after they have been altered on the computer. The final version is then transferred onto canvas either by projection or drawn to scale, then painted in oils or water mixable oils. Abstract paintings might evolve spontaneously out of landscapes as I am painting them or from the very start with no preconceived notion, just an explosion of emotion in color. ...

Joel P Heinz Sr. - Joel P Heinz Sr. was born in Hastings, Minnesota; raised and educated in Northern California: served in the Army in Viet Nam, and raised a family in California. He worked in various sales positions until he found his calling working with mentally disabled adults. He is now retired and living his dream in Maui with his wife, Kathy. In 1995, Joel began painting using acrylic paint on canvas with no formal art training. His artwork evolved from associating with other artists and the joy of experimenting and discovery. In the beginning, his favorite subject was Tropical Marine, colorful tropical landscapes and underwater scenes. As part of the evolution of his art, he dabbled in Egyptian art for a short time in order to practice working in detail, a noticeable characteristic of most of his artwork on canvas. For years he had appreciated artwork from a distance only to be disappointed in the lack of detail when viewed close up. He wanted his work on canvas to be detailed enough to be clearly seen whether viewed up close or from a distance. In the 21 years prior to moving to Maui, Joel's twice-annual visits to Maui cultivated an appreciation ...
Leon Aarts - What is Art? Art is the thrilling spark that beats death - thats all. Brett Whiteley Why does one paint? The most fundamental reason one paints is in order to see. Painting is a language which cannot be replaced by another language. I don't know what to say about what I paint, really. Balthus The position of the artist is humble. He is essentially a channel. Mondrian It is particularly colouring of the soul which literary technicians have not so far found to be chemically analysable, and consequently,it has NO name.Expressionism is today in the AIR. I choose to be an artist. Leonardus Aarts...

Hem Raj - I had read it somewhere that space is something in which things exist and in which all movements take place (otherwise it is nothing!) This relationship between space, existence and movement has stuck in my mind over the decades of my working life as an artist. In all my works I have been dealing with space. And all the forms and objects therein have served as residents of that space - forms and objects with their own dynamics, their own identities and functions. However, I have taken care, that the forms and objects I introduced in my picture space, well integrate with the space they are lodged into and perform a function that amounts to just declaring their existence and their right to exist therein (whether in harmony or conflict). These forms and objects have a function (the function I decide them to be performing). And that function is generally decided by the space I allot them. And they are made to exhibit a lively interest in both their existence and environment. However, I generally divide my pictorial space in order to create both depth and mood. Here comes in my architectural sense which I have been developing over the years. ...

I respect and appreciate the wildlife I depict in my paintings. I study and work on improving my technical expertise. This is a never ending process which I address on a daily basis. I have a strong work ethic which allows me to stay focused in order to complete large complex works. I look forward to painting larger paintings of big animals such as elephants, giraffes and cape buffaloes. I am also eager to paint more botanical and floral paintings. ...
Vladimir Hristov - My principle of working There is only one principle taken in account in all of my art doing: There is no previous exact sketch, map or definite precise idea. Instead, I prefer to be free in searching for the right image inside the "empty canvas". By exploring many ideas, different forms and shapes at the same time, looking for their hidden links and trying to understand them, I take the enjoyment of the process of creation of the image by it self. My Historic / Time-correspondence: Mix of: Botticelli and Kandinsky with Nick Cave & Sonic Youth, that might be about where I want to go... Starting with Byzantine and Renaissance art, going forward through over: Klimt & Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka and Chagall plus Russian Avantgarde & Pop Art altogether with music & PoP Culture. There are many sources from where I feed my inspiration Technique & Materials: Most often I use acrylic & oil on canvas, but not excluding many different materials such as: pigments, pens, markers, tempera... applications like: insects & bugs, mirrors, metal, wood, paper,... videos & projections, onto the painted canvas, boards, aluminum plates, etc... Once I've learned the basics such as drawing and painting all together with my education & work experience in ...
