  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Miguel Cerejido - Artist's Statement The nexus between music and painting and ways of pictorially representing sound and silence, have been the main subjects of my work as an artist since 1980. This exploration has many facets from attempts at a pictorial representation of sound, to the creation of environments (maybe places or landscapes) that result from the sensations, feelings, states of mind and/or visions generated by music. My work has gone through different stages from attempts to illustration of specific musical work to explorations of aspects of the musical structure itself. This is, of course, purely subjective The final phase of production in my work is distinguished by a return to painting, almost forgotten in my eagerness in use it as a medium instead of a purpose, and the utilization of all I've learned through the years about shaping a pictorial - not musical - art work, which held all the spiritual power of music, as an autonomous entity, without moving it away from it's musical sources by means of referent codes, which, I hope, made possible the identification of the theme by the viewer. The resolution of this process continues to evolve as I grow as an artist and ...

Godwin Constantine - Art for me art is a medium to express my reflections on the enviornment in which I am placed. I feel our identity is not static, its dynamic. It is moleded by our circumstances although we assume our identity as stable and unique by birth, upbrining and the other inherent'qualites' we fail to appreciate the vulnarability of our identity. Art is a medium which helps us to relate and reflect on our condition thus helping us constantly to renew and realise our identity. ...

Ajit Deswandikar - To begin with, as an artist I always has an inclination towards anything new that was going on around me, which gave me an inspiration to use a different concepts for my paintings. I believe in freedom of expressions, through my creative ideas with experimenting on new styles. In my paintings I explore the images for its fragility and strength which depicts transformation of energy. These paintings are new series which represent a throughout motion and a pictorial representation of exploring individualities. The moment captured on canvas is magnificent journey of simplicity and mesmerizing experience of life. There is however a strong undercurrent of emotion, sensuality ant passion emphasizing on modern globalization in digital age that give immense pleasure. There is simple pleasure of life that depicts bold statements like a new era woman or an innocent smile like a girl on a swing .. At a glance you will perceive a transformation of forms, a glamorous word, and a winning desire .a desire to strive for the magnificent journey in incomparable moving world I have tried to showcase all trends of a traditional as well as modern advancing technology in a sensual manner ...

Tom Kelly - The primary direction of my work is dedicated to the visual representation of past literary works, historical figures, myths, and stories which are partially lost to time. In the space between the event and our current time there are gaps in perception, memory, materials and history that we fill with how we interpret our present world. The cultural, physical, and philosophical space in which we inhabit is the modifier of how our past is seen and the indicator of the direction of our future. We cannot help but to see the past through the lenses of our time and because of this the past can appear to be a strange and at times unknowable place. I address the space between history and contemporary perception by making surfaces that are variously layered, abraded, stained, cleaned, collaged with found objects and over-painted. An eroding wall surface that has been subject to the vagaries of time is analogous to the way the space of the past is perceived in the present. In the worn surface we can see the march of time and ponder the various ways in which the surface was affected by time. Ideas of support or ruin, asset or ...

Derek Dey - Many times I am asked where ideas come from. There's never been any difficulty with that, because they arose one by one in almost linear fashion. The full idea for a painting would emerge in my mind as a complete mental picture somewhere towards the end of the painting I was working on before. From this, I would jot down a clear thumbnail image and pretty much work from that alone. Looking back on it, it seems to me the subconscious was prompting this process in an effort to build wholeness out of chaos within me. Almost like the process of art itself. I am in Europe painting writing and working up some 3D stuff. Caio! ...

Joel P Heinz Sr. - Joel P Heinz Sr. was born in Hastings, Minnesota; raised and educated in Northern California: served in the Army in Viet Nam, and raised a family in California. He worked in various sales positions until he found his calling working with mentally disabled adults. He is now retired and living his dream in Maui with his wife, Kathy. In 1995, Joel began painting using acrylic paint on canvas with no formal art training. His artwork evolved from associating with other artists and the joy of experimenting and discovery. In the beginning, his favorite subject was Tropical Marine, colorful tropical landscapes and underwater scenes. As part of the evolution of his art, he dabbled in Egyptian art for a short time in order to practice working in detail, a noticeable characteristic of most of his artwork on canvas. For years he had appreciated artwork from a distance only to be disappointed in the lack of detail when viewed close up. He wanted his work on canvas to be detailed enough to be clearly seen whether viewed up close or from a distance. In the 21 years prior to moving to Maui, Joel's twice-annual visits to Maui cultivated an appreciation ...

Vasily Zolottsev - There is only one law in art which carries objective character and comes from the very nature, conditional character and illusiveness of art! It is an indispensable condition of creation of an artistic image! It is necessary to judge an artwork by intensity and importance of the image and force of its emotional influence! Style, manner and technique don't have any importance and they are equivalent! The good picture of a primitive artist can be much more valuable in the art sense than a 'competent' picture of a realist and on the contrary! If there is an image, there is a work of art, if there isn't, it's no use crying for the moon! And it is not important which art means it has been reached by! Everyone to his 'own' taste! ...

Lubov Meshulam Lemkovitch - Lubov Meshulam Lemkovich I am primarily a portrait painter. Whilst I experiment with different genres both abstract and realistic, my favorite genre has to be the art of portraiture. I am fascinated by life drawing; I love the people that I depict and I see in each of them a unique personality and beauty that is found in every man and every woman ... I communicate with the sitter and in the process of drawing I understand more and more about them; so much so that I can really relate on an individual basis to everyone I draw In the process of portrait painting there is a lot of psychology ... ultimately I believe the final result is a mutual understanding, rewarding to both parties ...

Linda Paul - Artists Statement" When asked 'What is your favorite painting', I always say, 'the next one I am going to paint!" Style: I don't paint in any one style, I let inspiration speak to me and I go with the flow. My work runs the gamut from chunky realism to abstract and impressionist painting. I use many different mediums to create my artworks. One of my favorites is egg tempera which I make by crushing stones and minerals and adding egg yolk. Blues come from crushed lapis lazuli, greens from malachite and natural green earth found around Verona Italy. I even use minerals found during hikes in the Rocky Mountains. I am captivated not only by the purity and naturalness of this medium, but by the science of it. Each pigment has its own set of properties and capabilities that must be explored. How better to express visions of the earth than with earth itself. This medium is luminous and lasts for centuries. also make my own acrylic paint in the same manner. By adding pure pigment to a acrylic polymer. I can add thing like crushed mica and pearlescents to make the painting come alive. Lately I have also ...

Teresa Kwiatkowska - Jonathan Livingston Seagull told: "It is good to be a seeker but sooner or later you have to be a finder. And then it is well to give what you have found, a gift into the world for whoever will accept it." I try to go this way in my life. ...
