  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Alberto Ruggieri - Ruggieri works in two main areas: as an advertising and editorial illustrator and a painter. For the last ten years his illustrations have been published regularly in most important Italian newspapers and magazines. Ruggieri also illustrates children's books and produces bespoke book covers for several leading publishing houses. His painting are mainly acrylic on canvas, other time mixed media or acrylic on paper; in the last years he use the computer also. Ruggieri's work has been highly commended in industry sponsored awards from all around the world for several years. ...

Lia Chechelashvili - My works can be divided into three main categories: 1) White lines on dark background (executed mostly with gouache on cardboard): "Party", "Illusion", "Cube" are examples of this body of work. Human forms, their interaction, linear transformations of the objects, rhythmic play of construction - these are the main features of my work. In those compositions I used line as a minimalistic mean for delivering my thoughts and vision. 2) Oil paintings (oil on canvas/cardboard): "Red flowers", "Cup of decadence", "Green construction" are examples of my oil paintings, which are also based on human forms. Other works are abstract or semi-abstract; the examples are "Composition 6", "Composition 7", "Composition 14". In these works I try to deliver light, space and color. 3) Digitally embellished drawings (mixed media): This body of work is a natural continuation of my line-works. In 2000's, I began applying digital effects to my drawings. The idea was to enrich simple line and make it look more complex, thus through that complexity create a new kind of form. The examples of this body of work are "Radiant tango", "Lovers", "Autumn lovers". ...

Leif Peterson - Artist Statement In making artwork a part of myself, and in making that art reflect who I am, I have gone through many questions about what my senses of art and self are and should be. What makes me who I am? What do I value? What is my complexion? What drives me as a human being? These are the essential questions which I answer for myself through art. My artwork describes desire, beauty, love restrained by fear, anger, anxiety, aggression. These are the dominant forces that inhabit my psyche. As man I find beauty in the female figure. But along with desire, it invokes an uncertainty, a foreignness that brings fear and all of its inherent reactions. These conflicting emotions are who I am. And they are manifest in my work. I've struggled with the seemingly single-mindedness of my work, but I can't get away from the fact that these are the thoughts and feelings that drive me through a life which seems to lack purpose. Through my artwork, I am able to give meaning to the basic instinctual processes that course through the passages in my body and mind. My artwork is a reflection of ...

Paul Cairns - Most of the time my work is rooted in an exploration of structure, by nature and the landscapes of Northern Ireland where I grew up or Essex where I now live. Structurally the handling of the materials is very physical with the stretchers frequently becoming more sculptural or sculptures becoming painterly. Painting can sometimes be seen as passively hanging on the wall out of the way so to counter this viewpoint many of my works inhabit the space much more, from heavy relief to working fully in the round. Nature and landscape is never far away from my thoughts and being part of nature is what has enabled us to develop a sense of culture, so when I paint what may at first look like a conventional portrait, you will soon see that the sitter is a part of the landscape; they have had a hand in forming each other. ...

Jacquie Vaux - My goal as an artist, is to present a beautiful veiw of wildlife in the form of fine art paintings.I strive to show the vivid colors and patterns in the most appealing compositions. I also demonstrate natural behavior and some element of habitat that most beautifully presents this subject manner in the most visually exciting format. I respect and appreciate the wildlife I depict in my paintings. I study and work on improving my technical expertise. This is a never ending process which I address on a daily basis. I have a strong work ethic which allows me to stay focused in order to complete large complex works. I look forward to painting larger paintings of big animals such as elephants, giraffes and cape buffaloes. I am also eager to paint more botanical and floral paintings. ...

Jorge Arcos - "My art is an expression overflowing, of how I perceive the world. The pallet is usually colorful and with uncontrollable ways, that are merged into an incontrollable world of organic forms. Thanks to my Hispanic heritage, coming from a fully cultural rooted country, my work shows lively and energetic, strong and obsessive. Looking at a world, that it is full of nuances and changes, my focus comes from inner feeling about life. Trough a journey of learning path, my work conveys self-discovery and evolution, communicating to the viewer, my personal viewing and perception of the world around me; quieting mind, and carrying my ideals trough colors and shapes, eluding conformity and traditionalism". "I am an artist because I was born to be one. I couldn't live if I wasn't one. I am alive because I paint. It feeds my soul. My motive to paint is to live and to express every moment of my life and the simple fact of being alive". ...

Tara Hutton - My passion for the glamorous Art Deco era of the 1920's & 1930's is reflected in all my artwork. Therefore when you view my artwork you will see definitive lines and geometric shapes. My favorite medium is acrylic. My favorite art period is Art Deco but lately I have been venturing into next era, often referred to as Mid-Century Modern. My love for Architecture and Design is equal to the love I have for Fine Art. I am most attracted to people that are connected to or passionate about the arts. If my arwork pleases you I will be pleased, send me an e-mail, I answer all my art e-mail! Thank you for taking the time to view my Absolute Arts Portfolio. ...

Dune Tencer - I have been told that I need to find a style, a theme, or a signature look to my art. Well I have. I love painting the landscapes of America's Southwest and my home state of Texas. I love painting the texture, color and size. Now that being said I find painting abstract and inks very freeing, relaxing and the inks are just down right fun. On occasion the canvas has a mind of its own and a painting just wants out. A good example of this can be found in the Geisha. My daughter challenged me to paint a really big painting. I had a roll of canvas, 8 feet long and 4 feet wide. Overwhelmed by the size I threw on some black paint and some red paint, spread it around. I then hung it from the ceiling of the studio and stepped back. There she was all I had to do was the finishing embellishment and 45 minutes later there stood the "GEISHA". This is not the sort of thing that happens often but what fun when it does. I hope you enjoy seeing my art as much as I do making it. Thank you. ...

Susan Barnes - Since childhood, art has been a large and defining part of the person I have become and strongly influences the way in which I view the world around me. Having an artist grandmother, with a home studio, made it seem so natural a part of daily life. Hopefully this love of art will continue to be passed down through future generations. Painting is my passion. Although I am a representational artist, painting mainly in oils, my interest is not in copying a subject in a photorealistic way but rather to create something that is sensed on an emotional level in addition to what is seen with the eye. I paint both en plein air, which is both an exhilarating and challenging experience that feeds my soul, and in my Medford studio. Moving paint around is what it is all about, placing one piece of color against another to create that atmospheric effect and convey a mood. That's the mystery and illusion of painting. What attracts me are scenes infused with mood and atmosphere. There is no shortage of either along the coastal areas. Having spent summers for most of my life along the New Jersey shore has given me ...

Susan Barnes - Kevin Wakefield - I love the drama of staged lighting to create extraordinary depth, contrast and exciting, bold, value and color changes. Revieling the third dimension with strong visual communication. Painting subject matter that may convey sensuality, to spark arousal, change tention to serenity, or envoke art appreciation, aesthetics, create a multisensory connection to viewers and expanded vision are goals l am to achieve....

Sylva Zalmanson - Before I became a painter, before I even thought I could, I would look for long hours at the pictures painted by beloved artists and feel their deep pain. I felt that I was not the only one in this world that had a desperate need to make everyone cognizant of this sorrow. Can anything be more important than irresistible art luring and hypnotizing down through the generations with its mysterious riddle and its genius magic touch....

Tatyana Leksikova - Painting is something I really love to do. Now it is the most important part of my life. I love colors, enjoy playing with them, mixing them, putting them together. I feel them like music. And the main thing I would like to express in my work is that the life is full of the beautiful moments. I hope people enjoy my paintings as much as I do creating them. ...
