Artwork Description:
Lady C was just one of several good-sized ships that Hurricane Gilbert deposited on beaches at Cancun, Mexico in 1988. I visited there in January of 1989, only because Cancun hotelliers were desperate enough for business that rates were almost reasonable, even for an artist. There wasn much to do, so what tourists there were spent a lot of time ogling the stranded boats, and I did their portrait. Just recently retrieved Lady C from storage, cleaned her up and gave her a new coat of varnish, the artist version of swabbing the deck.
