Artist Statement:
In defined reality, what you
see is not always necessarily
what you get. As a
peripatetic painter, the
landscape and scenery I
experience change for me a
great deal in-between here and
there. As experienced from
countless times of traveling
by air, one visual aspect that
remains universal, unchanging
yet always changing is the
formation of clouds.
I take a philosophical
approach to visual perception
and expression in my work.
Using agreed upon physical
reality to draw from, that
misty horizon up beyond
peripheral surroundings that
is necessarily there, I create
forms that may resemble some
other reality. It is up to
the viewer's discretion which
reality surfaces, or perhaps
it is the surfaced reality
that dictates subjective
opinion. The universe seems
to be made up of fractal
elements that repeat ad
infinitum, and nature has a
way of tricking you into
thinking you're seeing
something when it's really
something else... or is it?
Perhaps by taking this
dualistic approach, to be or
not to be is no longer a
question, but a resolution.

to unanswerable questions,
philosophical statements about
the world we know, or think we
