Include in these pages are
images from two different
exhibits: living within the
boundaries of nine squares,
frag: the dismantling of an
american city and some
independent work
for me the words communication
and art are synonomus.

LIVING WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES
OF NINE SQUARES
living within the boundaries
of nine squares is a mixed
media installation that deals
with the concept of boundaries
and how we exist, grow and
even create within different
sets of boundaries. The
series’ concept is based in
part on the Amish women and
their creation of the nine
square quilt. They had the
ability to create within the
confines that the nine square
system set upon them, as well
as, living within the confines
of their religious communities
belief system.
All the pieces in the series
are bounded by the concept of
nine squares.
At the root, it is an
exploration of how I, as a
women artist can create within
the boundaries I impose on
myself, as well as those
imposed externally. On
another level, it mirrors the
boundaries we all exist within
everyday. Each piece
considers different
boundaries, some positive,
some negative from ...
