Artist Statement:

My work almost always starts on the wheel and I throw a base that acts as a pedestal for a more elaborate lid. The pieces continue to appear more precarious, but the longest spires I can pull make the best "canvases" for animating movement. I create textures through trimming and carving that play with the glazes, pooling and breaking over the horizontal ridges to create a juxtaposition of color.
