Welcome to Gerald Porter's Portfolio. Browse Porter's body of work: I am a 53 year old self-taught African American artist living and working in Syracuse, New York. I have drawn and painted all my life. In grade school I used to doodle all over my papers and as a result was more or less constantly in trouble for handing in “messy” assignments. We used to have an art teacher who would occasionally come to our elementary school class, but she yelled at me too for preferring to draw rather than paste macaroni and glitter on colored construction paper. That was the only art education I ever got.
