Artist Statement:
"In the work that I create, either with brush & ink or with oils, I try wed a sense of realism and fantasy. Realistic in the way I approach the work, but slightly larger than life in subject matter. I feel that art communicates different things to different people, and the interpretation is as dependent upon the viewers' experience in life as it is upon the artist's background.
Each image is tied to a philosophy. And it is this underlying thought that provides the working dynamics in composition and rendering!"
Bob's love for different cultures and settings have found their mark in his artwork. As an dedicated student of history and theology, he draws upon many resources to provide synthesis for his subjects.
His landscapes are populated by people that, at first glance, could be from many different geographical locations, but on closer inspection, belong to none. By mixing regions and adorning his creations with cross-cultural icons, Bob's work achieves a "fantasy" element that makes it hard to place in any one era.
