Artist Statement:
Art has been described as the
human ability to creatively
work with the principles of
form and beauty to achieve
pleasure and appreciation for
both artist and audience.
The artist Donald Neff
exemplifies this description
with his work. With a
sensitive eye toward
composition and color,
Donald's harmony with nature
is reflected on his canvas.
Like many nature lovers, he
wanted to capture the
freshness and essence of the
outdoors permanently -- he
chose oil and acrylic painting
to this end. His paintings are
typically centered around a
water theme, whether High
Sierra scenes, seascapes, or
the graceful countryside.
Although drawing and art
have been steady interests
since a child, Donald's
concentration in oil painting
surfaced after college
graduation and his
establishment in a successful
computer science career. What
began as a pastime pleasure
quickly became a compulsion.
Donald is completely
self-instructed and his
paintings convey a realistic
perception of nature. Most
recently, Donald semi-retired
from his computer science
career to devote full time to
his art.
Donald's work is shown in
galleries, institutional, and
private collections throughout
the United States. He has had
one man shows at such
institutions as the Carnegie
Museum in Oxnard, ...
