Artist Statement:
Well where to start? How do I describe myself in a way that entices you to get some of my art?
I guess I'll let my words in a recent interview I gave to a well known artist gossip rag do the talking for me. The following is an excerpt from "Maxi Artist" magazine
Q: So what drives you to paint?
A: Well it helps me to get things out of my system. Sometimes painting is a way to confront issues that I am concerned about. Most of my artwork, whether it be my paintings or my sculptural collages, address political, religious, and social themes. And sometimes I do it just for the hell of it.
Q: What do you like most about your work?
A: I like the bright colors and the juxtaposition of images.
Q: Could you explain the juxtaposition of images?
A: Well I like to combine recognizable symbols in an unrecognizable context. I like things to appear familiar until further inspection shows them to be otherwise.
Q: In other words you like to screw with peoples heads?
A: Yes...exactly?
Q: How would you most like yourself and your work to be remembered?
A: I ...
