Artist Statement:
Kay Crane was born in Washington, D.C. into a family of artists. Her father was Chief of Exhibits at the Smithsonian. Coincidentally her grown son now also works in the Smithsonian's exhibit shop. Her mother is a well known artist and a member of the American Watercolor Society.
Encouraged from an early age to draw and paint, Kay has been at it for as long as she can remember. A lover of animals and wildlife, she finds herself drawn to these as subjects for her art.
A recent move to Colorado has brought her closer to the natural subjects she loves. Her work has been commissioned
nationally by a number of museums, nature centers and theatres.
