Artist Statement:
Tober was born in 1978 in
East Berlin, Germany. Her
mother introduced her to the
arts. Tober’s passion grew
constantly, experimenting with
materials and techniques.
Lately she is focusing on
painting, mainly with water
based oils on canvas using
flat, vivid colors. Most
semi-realistic and cubist
artwork is inspired by her
intensive traveling through
Europe and Cuba from 1991
until today.
The sun, fountain of energy,
life and optimism is a major
subject. Sunsets, sunrises and
its fantastic conjunctions of
shapes, shades, colors and
lights are dominant in her
landscapes, seascapes &
skyscapes.
Tober’s artwork reflects her
pride, respect and honor for
nature’s overwhelming
creations. She is inspired by
Caspar David Friedrich and the
German expressionists Mark,
Macke, Kirchner etc.
Tober is an ambitious,
emerging, self-taught,
full-time artist: continuously
studying, creating, promoting,
managing and selling her
artwork. She is sharing a
studio in South Boston, MA,
with her husband, Afro-Cuban
artist Nelson DA’COSTA, whom
she married in 2001 in Havana,
Cuba.
Tober’s artwork was featured
in the Sunday Boston Globe,
Boston Globe, Boston Magazine
and on TV. Her paintings are
part of private collections in
the U.S., Canada and
Germany....
