Artist Statement:
Muhammad Yungai is the newest
phenomenon in contemporary
art. His journey in art began
when his father recognized his
abstract art at age 5. After
receiving praise and guidance
at an early age his appeal to
art bloomed into and
unquenchable thirst. While in
high school, Yungai began to
frequent the art galleries in
the New Orleans
French Quarters. He graduated
from pencil to paint after
marveling over the works of W.
Tolliver. He began to work
feverishly on canvas. He
captured the eyes of art
lovers, but was unable to
satisfy his own high
expectations of originality.
He refused to be just another
artist copying someone else.
His breakthrough came as he
enjoyed a jazz concert at a
nightclub, observing the
reflection of light. He
realized that he more enjoyed
color than movement. As he
explored his theory, he
developed his own sense of
color arrangement and subject
matter. Yungai says that he
has a pressing goal to refine
his style and offer himself to
the world!...
