Artist Statement:
I moved to Tucson from my
hometown of Kentucky over
three years ago with the sole
intent of earning my Master of
Fine Arts degree at the
University of Arizona. While
attending graduate school I
completed a large amount of
artwork and did in fact earn
my degree, but it was what I
didn't plan on making that has
shaped my current body of
work. Creating a family has
been a life altering
experience, both personally
and professionally. The
photographic series, Doing It
Domestic, was born over two
years ago from this occurrence
and I continue to add to the
series. The images all
correspond to one another, but
can also stand alone as a
single photographic artwork.
The colorful display of my
family is just a shadow into
what I hope to portray of my
inner feelings of becoming a
mother and still trying to
maintain some small piece of
who I was before motherhood.
